Check into your Airbnb located 20mins (by foot) from Mondello Beach. This is the best option for medium budgets as you get an independent house located in the most tranquil place, that’s also close to the beach.

Excellent
Enjoy the beautiful beach of Mondello! We spent some time on the “spiaggia libera” and then ended up getting a pedalò from Liliana. It cost about €10 for an hour.
Good
Dinner at Trattoria da Piero. Amazing food, right in the middle of Piazza Mondello looking at the bay.
Good
End the day on a small boat (inclusive of another few people) for 30mins around the bay of Mondello to watch the sunset. Cost: €5 each. We weren’t bothered to walk to the Airbnb after this, so we took the public scooters located around Mondello (and just downloaded one of the apps to rent one). Cost about 90c to get back to the Airbnb.

Good
Go on a morning walk to Mondello Beach and indulge in a breakfast of champions at Bar Touring, located right in front of the beach. A typical pistacchio cornetto and mini strawberry tart! We then took a walk around the town.

Good
Just another 10min walk away from Bar Touring, there’s a Nature Reserve tucked away, hiding some beautiful beach spots and a lovely walking track along the mountain, which leads to a lighthouse. The cost to get in is €1 each if you’re walking, or €5 if you want to park your car inside.

Ate some burgers and chips at D2 Daniels in the piazza. Pretty average food and the service is slow, although location is nice as you get a nice view of the bay in the piazza.
Good
A quick gelato from Latte PA, located right in front of Mondello Beach, to refuel for the next adventure!
Good
Located just 5mins by foot from the Airbnb, is a ranch that holds afternoon horse rides up the Capo Gallo mountain. It’s duration is about 45 minutes, and mainly takes you up and down the mountain which has very nice panoramic views. Cost about €25 for 45mins.
Good
Dinner at Filicudi, we had a pizza night 😍 It’s a 25min walk from the Airbnb or just 7mins with the public scooters.

Start off the day at the Contemporary Art Museum in Palermo Centro. Costs about €3 for adults to enter, and free for kids. To get to the city from Mondello, take a taxi (about €30 one way) or the bus (€1.40). The bus takes about an hour due to waiting times, and the taxi about 25mins.
Excellent
Visit Palermo’s Cathedral which is absolutely magical. Climb up to the top for just €7 each to get a beautiful panorama of the city. Note: there are about 100 spiral steps to get up there, so would not recommend for anyone who has any injuries that may put them in difficulty when walking up the stairs.
Excellent
Visit a cute little bottega located right in front of the Cathedral. L’Isola Saporita sells higher class souvenirs with most items being Made in Italy. Make sure you get yourself a traditional pistacchio cream jar, a Sicilian beach towel and of course, a fan for the heat 😉
Excellent
Such an amazing little place located in a small alleyway close to the Cathedral. Amazing food, service and clean. The alleyway also features some Sicilian art. Highly recommend!
Excellent
Visit the beautiful Saint Caterina Church and Monastery. Make sure you visit the roof to check out another beautiful panorama of the city! It costs about €10 for adults to enter, and free for kids.
Excellent
Get an AMAZING gelato brioche from Bar Marocco, which they say has the most amazing gelato in the area. Can confirm 🤩
Good
Palermo night life is amazing, people everywhere and not just young people, but families and teens also! We had some drinks at Ferramenta, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Excellent
Back in Palermo to continue our adventures from the day before (there’s just so much to see!). Start by checking out Piazza Pretoria.
Good
As we were walking along Via Vittorio Emanuele, we found the cutest piazzetta! Also located here, the historic Angela Tripi store that sells iconic mini statues which are used for Christmas nativity scenes.
Excellent
The Royal Palace 👑 Such a magnificent place. Make sure to see all of it, including the Royal apartments, the Royal garden, the chapel and the exhibition section. Cost: €19 for adults (concession prices also available). Highly recommend booking online as the line for tickets gets super long!
Good
Some quick food & drinks from C4nti, close to the 4 quanti on Via Maqueda. We just had some friend chips, panelle and bruschetta here.
Good
Visit an outdoor eco-friendly library 📚 The man that owns it is a pensioner, who just loves a chit chat and doing making sure you get shop sustainable and get some books!
Excellent
See Italy’s largest theatre, and Europe’s 3rd largest theatre, from the outside!

Excellent
Take a morning swim at Capo Gallo. It is even more amazing especially so early in the morning when there’s no crowds 😌
14 Jul
Good
See the animals in the park at Parco D’Orelans, an ex-Royal garden.
Good
You know what time it is - Arancina time! 🍙 And let me say it does not disappoint.
Good
Walk through a nice indoor and artisan market on the level 1 of the building, which also gives great and front on Cathedral views 😍 Entry is free.
Good
We took Palermo’s little yellow train to soak in the most popular parts of the city in just 45mins! It was a nice ride, just the tour guides are not too informative and it is only available in English. Also, on large roads it gets a bit smoggy, but overall a good experience as we saw a lot. Cost: €10 adults and €5 kids.
Good
Go for a sunset walk and get some drinks to finish off the day at Mida Lounge Bar. Drinks cost around €10 each.

Excellent
Treat yourself to a bit of luxury for a night at Villa Masetta, located right in front of Mondello Beach. Enjoy the breakfast in the morning, relax in your room and read a book, enjoy terrace views or sit back and relax next to the pool.
Excellent
Enjoy the Mediterranean waters by renting a boat! Bring some aperitivi, a device to connect to Bluetooth (musiccc!) and your swimmers because you’re set for a day of Sicilian sun & fun 🚤☀️🙌🏽 Cost: €250 with a skipper or about €140 if you drive yourself (you don’t need a nautical licence).

Good
Eat dinner on the terrace at Bar Touring, it’s absolutely stunning especially during sunset. Make sure to book ahead as it gets a bit busy. The food is amazing, and we had a good time even though the waiters sometimes seem unbothered 😂

I'm planning a trip all around Europe towards the beginning of 2023... 💚Hope I can spend 2 to 3 days in Palermo.
Oh I highly recommend it! Palermo is a hidden gem that too many people don’t know about, they only realise it when they get here. The start of the year is great for avoiding crowds, so you’d get to see the amazing hidden gems of Palermo without too much craziness 🤪
