Cinque Terre

🇬🇧: The Cinque Terre is a coastal area within Liguria, in the northwest of Italy. It lies in the west of La Spezia Province, and comprises five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To reach the Cinque Terre, the train is strongly recommended as finding parking is an arduous undertaking. I left with Italo from Milano Centrale and I must admit that it was the best solution as it was comfortable and fast. I used La Spezia as a base where I stayed in an apartment, but if you want you can choose also Levanto or one of the Cinque Terre as a base, personally I would choose Riomaggiore. Book from home the train pass to the Cinque Terre which is very convenient to get around and you will avoid the long queues there are to do it at the station. Cost is about 42€. The month of August is not recommended to go to the Cinque Terre, because the trains are very crowded as are the streets of small villages. 🇮🇹: Le Cinque Terre sono antichi villaggi di pescatori situati lungo la frastagliata costa italiana. Ciascuno di questi borghi è caratterizzato da case colorate e da vigneti aggrappati ai ripidi terrazzamenti ricavati sulla costa. I porti sono affollati di barche per la pesca e nelle tipiche trattorie è possibile provare le specialità di mare, così come il famoso condimento ligure: il pesto. Il Sentiero Azzurro, un percorso escursionistico che si estende lungo la costa, collega tra loro le Cinque Terre e offre splendidi panorami sul mare. Per raggiungere le cinque terre è fortemente consigliato il treno in quanto trovare parcheggio è un’ardua impresa. Io sono partita con Italo da Milano Centrale e devo ammettere che è stata la soluzione migliore in quanto comodo e veloce. Ho utilizzato come base La Spezia dove ho soggiornato in un appartamento, ma volendo si può scegliere come base Levanto o una delle cinque Terre, personalmente sceglierei Riomaggiore. Prenotate da casa l’abbonamento del treno per le Cinque Terre che è comodissimo per spostarsi ed eviterete le lunghe code che ci sono per farlo in stazione. Costo è di 42€ circa. Il mese di agosto è sconsigliato per andare alle cinque Terre, perché i treni sono affollatissimi così come le vie dei piccoli villaggi.

🇬🇧: Riomaggiore is certainly the most iconic of the Cinque Terre, it stands all uphill so it's a bit tiring to visit but it's definitely wonderful 😻 🇮🇹: Riomaggiore è sicuramente la più iconica delle Cinque Terre, si erge tutta in salita quindi è un pochino faticosa da visitare ma è decisamente stupenda 😻

🇬🇧: Manarola is really beautiful, another one I loved. 🇮🇹:Manarola è davvero bellissima, un’altra di quelle che ho adorato.

🇬🇧: 🇮🇹: in Manarola you can have an excellent aperitif overlooking the famous 'Nessun Dorma' where you can enjoy delicious bruschetta with Ligurian pesto, cherry tomatoes and stracchino. A delicious platter based on cold cuts and cheeses accompanied by excellent sauces and the typical Ligurian focaccia. Remember that you need to book via app, you can't call. I recommend you follow their Instagram page for more info. 🇮🇹: a Manarola è possibile fare un ottimo aperitivo con vista al famosissimo ‘Nessun Dorma’ dove è possibile gustare sfiziose bruschette col pesto ligure, pomodorini e stracchino. Un delizioso tagliere a base di salumi e formaggi accompagnati da ottime salse e la tipica focaccia Ligure. Ricordate che è necessario prenotare tramite app, non è possibile chiamare. 🇬🇧:Corniglia is the most rural of the Cinque Terre and the only one that does not have direct access to the sea, it is nice but I personally prefer the others. Keep in mind that to reach it you need to climb numerous steps but you can still take the shuttle if you want. 🇮🇹: Corniglia è la più rurale delle cinque Terre e l’unica a non avere accesso diretto al mare, è carina ma personalmente preferisco le altre. Tenete presente che per raggiungerla è necessario salire numerosi gradini ma è comunque possibile prendere la navetta se volete.

🇬🇧: Vernazza is very suggestive and full of places where you can go shopping or eat the typical products of the area. I recommend you try basil-flavored ice cream. 🇮🇹: Vernazza è molto suggestiva e piena di locali dove è possibile fare shopping o mangiare i prodotti tipici della zona. Vi consiglio di provare il gelato al gusto basilico.

🇬🇧: Monterosso is the ideal destination if you want to spend time on the beach as it is the only one of the five lands to have them. I recommend booking sunbeds in advance at the famous La Fegina beach. Otherwise there is also a free beach a little further ahead. 🇮🇹: Monterosso è la meta ideale se volete passare del tempo in spiaggia in quanto è l’unica delle cinque terre ad averle. Vi consiglio di prenotare in anticipo i lettini nella famosa spiaggia La Fegina. Altrimenti vi è anche una spiaggia libera poco più avanti.

🇬🇧: If you have enough time, do not miss the opportunity to visit Portovenere, even if it is not part of the Cinque Terre, it is easily accessible by bus. At sunset 🌅 is really wonderful.
