Weekend a Bari

🇮🇹Partenza alle ore 06:30 dall'aeroporto di Milano Bergamo e arrivo a Bari alle ore 8:00. Appena arrivate abbiamo deciso di noleggiare un'auto per poterci spostare in modo autonomo durante il nostro soggiorno. Consiglio diffidate dagli autonoleggi dentro all'aeroporto, accettano solo carta di credito e hanno delle franchigie elevate. 🇬🇧Departure at 06:30 from Milan Bergamo airport and arrival in Bari at 8:00. As soon as we arrived we decided to rent a car to be able to move independently during our stay. Beware of car rentals inside the airport, they only accept credit cards and have high deductibles.

🇮🇹 Arrivo ad Ostuni, conosciuta come la città bianca. Bianco è il labirinto di strade e muri dipinti a calce in cui ci si perde e si rimane affascinati. La prima cosa che si vede all'arrivo è la piazza ricca di ristoranti e localini dove si può gustare un ottimo aperitivo al sole. Da qui si parte alla scoperta della città, tra viuzze, scalinate, archi, balconi e strade che portano su scorci panoramici mozzafiato. 🇬🇧We have arrived in Ostuni, known as the "white city". White is the labyrinth of streets and whitewashed walls in which one gets lost and fascinated. The first thing you see upon arrival is the square full of restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy an excellent aperitif in the sun. From here we start to discover the city, among narrow streets, stairways, arches, balconies and streets that lead to breathtaking panoramic views.

🇮🇹 Per pranzo decidiamo di spostarci a Polignano a Mare e gustare le specialità locali. Ci fermiamo in un ristorante del centro storico e assaggiamo le famose polpette cacio e pepe e ci gustiamo un'ottima pasta fatta in casa con pesce fresco. Tutto delizioso 😋 🇬🇧For lunch we decide to move to Polignano a Mare and taste the local specialties. We stop at a restaurant in the historic center and taste the famous cacio e pepe meatballs and enjoy excellent homemade pasta with fresh fish. All delicious 😋

🇮🇹Dopo pranzo visitiamo la città. Polignano a mare è uno dei borghi più famosi e imperdibili della Puglia, non solo per il suo mare ma anche per il centro storico con le case in pietra, le logge, il labirinto di stradine e le terrazze da cui ammirare il mare. 🇬🇧After lunch we visit the city. Polignano a mare is one of the most famous and unmissable villages in Puglia, not only for its sea but also for the historic center with stone houses, loggias, the labyrinth of narrow streets and terraces from which to admire the sea.

🇮🇹 Il nostro appartamento è pronto e quindi ci dirigiamo a Bari per il check in. Abbiamo optato per una sistemazione in centro città vicino a Corso Vittorio Emanuele che è una delle vie principali con numerosi ristoranti, bar e negozi. L'appartamento è stato ristrutturato di recente, comodo come appoggio. E 🇬🇧Our apartment is ready and then we head to Bari for check-in. We opted for accommodation in the city center near Corso Vittorio Emanuele which is one of the main streets with numerous restaurants, bars and shops. The apartment has been recently renovated, comfortable as a support.

🇮🇹 Per cena ci hanno consigliato il Ristorante del centro. Un ottimo ristorante con pesce fresco e prezzi molto convenienti. I camerieri sono molto cordiali e disponibili nel proporre e spiegare i diversi piatti. 🇬🇧For dinner they recommended the restaurant in the center. A very good restaurant with fresh fish and very affordable prices. The waiters are very friendly and helpful in proposing and explaining the different dishes.

🇮🇹 Dopo una super colazione con i dolci locali, partiamo in direzione Alberobello, famoso per essere la "capitale dei trulli" e Patrimonio dell’Umanità dall’UNESCO . Questa località è ora conosciuta in tutto il mondo soprattutto per la presenza dei trulli, tipiche abitazioni di colore bianco con tetti conici che regalano alla città un' atmosfera davvero fiabesca. In particolare sono due le aree dove è possibile ammirare la maggior parte di queste costruzioni Rione Monti e Aia Piccola. Numerosi negozi offrono anche delle terrazze dove è possibile godere di una vista panoramica. Alberobello è una delle località che più mi è piaciuta, proprio perchè unica nel suo genere. 🇬🇧 After a super breakfast with local sweets, we leave towards Alberobello, famous for being the "capital of the trulli" and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This locality is now known throughout the world especially for the presence of trulli, typical white houses with conical roofs that give the city a truly fairy-tale atmosphere. In particular, there are two areas where it is possible to admire most of these buildings Rione Monti and Aia Piccola. Numerous shops also offer terraces where it is possible to enjoy a panoramic view. Alberobello is one of the places that I liked the most, precisely because it is unique in its kind.

🇮🇹 Per pranzo decidiamo di fermarci in un locale proprio nel centro di Alberobello che si chiama Coppino. E' possibile fare un aperitivo/pranzo assaggiando le specialità locali come le fave fritte, i taralli locali e le orecchiette con cima di rapa. Locale in stile street food, ma davvero ottimo. 🇬🇧 For lunch we decide to stop in a place right in the center of Alberobello called Coppino. It is possible to have an aperitif/lunch tasting local specialties such as fried broad beans, local taralli and orecchiette with turnip top. Street food style place, but really good.

🇮🇹 Ci fermiamo per una breve tappa ad Altamura famosa per la sua cattedrale imponente e in stile romano e il suo centro storico. Il prodotto tipico più famoso di Altamura è il pane DOP, che ha ricevuto nel 2005 la denominazione di origine protetta. 🇬🇧 We stop for a short stop in Altamura famous for its imposing and Roman-style cathedral and its historic center. The most famous typical product of Altamura is PDO bread, which received the protected designation of origin in 2005.

🇮🇹 Arriviamo finalmente in un'altra città che mi ha rubato il cuore: Matera. Chiunque veda la città dei Sassi non può che rimanere senza parole per la sua immensa bellezza. E' impressionante l'atmosfera di calma e tranquillità che si respira qui, una città senza tempo. 🇬🇧We finally arrive in another city that stole my heart: Matera. Anyone who sees the city of the Sassi can only be speechless for its immense beauty. The atmosphere of calm and tranquility that reigns here, a timeless city, is impressive.

🇮🇹 Uno dei ristoranti più buoni in cui abbia mai mangiato. Il ristorante si trova nel centro storico di Bari vecchia, ha pochi posti a sedere quindi conviene prenotare. Abbiamo provato un antipasto con ricotta, verdure e gamberetti, seguito poi da una pasta favolosa: spaghetti al nero di seppia con pistacchio e gamberetti e per finire un fritto misto da dividere. Che dire, piatti tipici da tradizione cucinati con pesce freschissimo. Servizio velocissimo, personale gentile e anche il prezzo è stata una piacevole sorpresa. 😍 🇬🇧One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. The restaurant is located in the historic center of old Bari, has limited seating, so it is advisable to book. We tried an appetizer with ricotta, vegetables and shrimps, followed by a fabulous pasta: spaghetti with squid ink with pistachio and shrimps and finally a mixed fry to share. What can I say, typical traditional dishes cooked with fresh fish. Fast service, friendly staff and the price was also a pleasant surprise.

🇮🇹Decidiamo di andare a visitare la città di Monopoli, che si è rivelata una piacevole sorpresa. Appena si arriva si rimane affascinati subito dall'azzurro del mare in contrasto con il bianco delle case. Molto caratteristico è il centro storico formato da graziosi vicoletti e stradine. Il posto che più mi è piaciuto è stato il Porto Vecchio. Qui si può ammirare un vero e proprio paesaggio da cartolina, con le tipiche barchette blu. Passeggiando tra i vicoletti decidiamo di fermarci in un forno tipico per assaggiare i tradizionali panzerotti...con vista mare! 🇬🇧We decide to go and visit the city of Monopoli, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As soon as you arrive you are immediately fascinated by the blue of the sea in contrast with the white of the houses. The historic center is very characteristic, made up of pretty alleys and narrow streets. The place I liked the most was the Porto Vecchio. Here you can admire a real postcard landscape, with the typical blue boats. Walking through the alleys we decide to stop in a typical oven to taste the traditional panzerotti ... with a sea view!

🇮🇹 nel pomeriggio decidiamo di tornare a Bari e visitare Bari vecchia. Anche qui ritroviamo numerosi vicoletti, ma Bari Vecchia la si vive attraverso le persone che ci abitano e i profumi che si possono sentire passeggiando da un vicolo all'altro. In particolare, un luogo suggestivo da visitare assolutamente è la cosidetta "via della pasta" che si trova nella via dell'Arco basso. Se si passa di qui è possibile vedere le massaie locali che preparano le famose orecchiette a mano. Le signore sono sempre sorridenti e contente di scambiare due chiacchiere con i turisti. 🇬🇧in the afternoon we decide to go back to Bari and visit old Bari. Here too we find numerous alleys, but Bari Vecchia is experienced through the people who live there and the scents that can be smelled walking from one alley to another. In particular, a suggestive place to visit absolutely is the so-called "via della pasta" which is located in via dell'Arco Basso. If you pass by, you can see the local housewives preparing the famous orecchiette by hand. The ladies are always smiling and happy to have a chat with the tourists.

🇮🇹 Per l'ultimo giorno decidiamo di fare colazione a bari centro e fare poi una passeggiata sul lungomare gondendoci lo spettacolo del mare. 🇬🇧 For the last day we decide to have breakfast in the center of Bari and then take a walk along the seafront enjoying the spectacle of the sea.
