LISBON 3 DAYS

It was an early start for us as our flight with easyJet was due to take off at 6.45am. Unfortunately due to French air traffic strikes we didn't end up departing until about 8ish.

We stayed at this Ibis Styles for the duration of our visit. It was a good location near metro stations and not too far to walk to central areas. The airport was only a 15 minute drive too so we took a taxi to get here. Hotel itself was basic, but clean and fine to stay in for 3 nights. This was a family trip so my mum, dad, brother and his girlfriend were all with us here too.

We walked a few minutes from our hotel and came for lunch here. I went for half a chicken and Steven even tried some rabbit! The food was good, and filled a hole to get us ready for an afternoon exploring!

It costs €5 each to visit here and it's worth a wander around if you have the time. Interesting to read about the ruins and see them in the sunshine. Great views of Santa Justa round the corner of here too.

Amazing views over Lisbon from the top of here and if you walk up to the convent and take the path to the right it avoids paying to take the lift up and you get the same views!

Nata stop! We just had to pick up 6 of these delicious natas before heading back to the hotel. They were warm and very delicious! It cost us €9 for 6 of them.

Came for dinner here and it was absolutely delicious we had two courses each and the bread service was incredible. It only cost us about €30 each as well which I thought was great value. The service and ambience was great too.

We walked to this stop to get the famous Tram 28 early in the morning. We queued for a short while, but were on a tram within 15 minutes of arriving and we were even first on our one so got our pick of the seats! It was a lovely journey and well worth it. We rode up to Portas Sol stop to see the castle

Stopped here for brunch before heading to the castle and what a hidden gem. Brunch was insane I thoroughly enjoyed my pancakes and the freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious. The cafe itself was beautiful inside too, very aesthetically pleasing

It cost €15 for entry here and I'd recommend buying online as you can skip the queue that way. The views alone from the castle make it well worth the entrance fee. Full 360 views across Lisbon are stunning. The castle itself is beautiful to walk around and enjoy for a while as well

On the way down to Rua de Augusta from the castle you'll walk past Lisbon cathedral. It's a beautiful building tucked away on the busy hill and well worth a wander inside and to sit down for 10 minutes or so and admire it's elegance

A beautiful square that feels so bright and white in the sunshine! Surrounding the square are plenty of bars, restaurants, museums, etc...it's also by the water which is nice to sit by, although it does get quite busy here as it's where many of the cruise ships come in for the day.

I completely forgot to take any pictures of lunch or note of where we ate, but it was in one of the many little places just off Rua Augusta where they had outdoor seating and we only wanted a snack so just had sandwiches and toasties

Another day, another nata stop! This time a packet of 6 only cost us €7 from this place. These were delicious and not as cinnamony as the ones we had yesterday which was more to my taste.

I remember being so hot as we walked back to the hotel for a rest and we needed this break so it looks like I forgot photos but this place was fine, nothing too special but you picked your flavour and could have it as an ice cream or iced drink.

After some down time back at the hotel we headed out here for the evening and enjoyed a lovely meal here. It was an old jewellery shop and this was weaved into the decor. Tapas style food and smaller plates mainly but all very delicious. Again it was about €30 each for our meal here.

Amazing brunch spot near the monastery if you're starting your day in the Belém area. I ordered what I thought was simple banana bread and was presented with what you see above. Just wow! Delicious and great way to start the day.

The queues here are something else! We arrived at opening time and still had to wait a whole hour before we got in. Buying a ticket online makes no difference to your wait time unlike at the castle you just have to suck it up if you want to visit. Ironically we probably only spent about 30 mins wandering around after eventually getting in! €10 entry each not terrible and it was beautiful inside but not worth waiting longer than we did.

Another day, another nata stop. This time the most famous one of all. Said to be the home of the nata and from where it first originated these were again very delicious and I'd recommend enjoying them in the cafe itself which was huge!

I have to say I feel like this tower was much smaller than what I anticipated it would be, but it's still set in a beautiful area and great for a stroll after visiting the monastery. We didn't go in as only really wanted to see the tower from the outside.

We grabbed the team from Belém directly to the LX Factory area and enjoyed strolling around wandering in and out of the shops in the afternoon. We grabbed a quick lunch at Mex Factory which was fine and sat for a while at one of the outdoor cafes watching the world go by with a drink before heading back to our hotel.

After a relax and refresh in our hotel we wandered out for a pre dinner walk and drink. We stumbled across this live music being played just outside a restaurant in a park area and it was a lovely ambience to sit and enjoy during golden hour with a mojito in hand

Gorgeous meal here, maybe even my favourite dinner of the trip. The staff was super friendly too and great service. The ambience and decor in the restaurant was stunning as well. Absolutely spot on all round. A little more expensive but still only about €35 each.

The perfect place to enjoy a delightful morning stroll and the best thing about visiting on a Sunday was that it was absolutely free to get in which was a bonus we weren't expecting! Beautiful trees and plants to enjoy and nice bit of shade from that sun as well.

Our final nata stop of the trip! We just had to pick up a box to take back with us to enjoy at the airport so we ate our final one in Lisbon sat in the sunny square before making our way back to the hotel to check out.

We had some credit left to use on our travel card so thought we'd enjoy a funicular ride to use it up. It's the shortest ride ever basically just taking you up the hill. If you don't have the travel card it costs €4 each which totally is not worth it unless this is something you really want to do.

Before heading off to the airport for home we grabbed lunch from here which turned out to be a surprisingly nice little spot. Very affordable too only around €10 each for lunch.

Time for home! Our flight back was around 3pm and we left roughly on time. Great trip to Lisbon and was very sad to leave the glorious sunshine behind and return to the wet and rainy UK!
