Unforgettable 10days in Portugal

Welcome to Faro ,Portugal . Our first stop in this incredible country , where we spend 10 days exploring Faro , Lisbon , Sintra and Porto . Suggesting you my favourite from Portugal , I hope it helps . Day 1 - After landing and checking in our Airbnb we went to watch sunset at river front , main city centre have too many food joints and restaurants serving some delicious Portuguese cuisine and seafood . We sat at O coreto and had some delicious drinks and food here , highly recommend.

We rented car in Faro to explore Algrave but it isn’t necessary there are bus services between Faros , Lagos and Benagil but if that’s not convenient,I would highly suggest you to book day trip from Faro and Lagos (both the city is a great option to stay and explore Benagil from these cities)book your hotel and tour in advance as they get sold out or prices hikes very quickly . Upon arrival in Benagil beach we booked 30 min boat ride to explore Benagil cave ans some other , you aren’t supposed to get down , kayak is the only option if you want to swim inside the cave (book your car or kayak in advance ) over all this 🚤 boat tour was super quick and nice .

Once you done with relaxing at the beach head to this short 1 hour trekking trail from Praia da Benagil to Praia da Marinha , very easy to access you will see bunch of people walking up the hill from the beach and that’s where your trek starts , honestly you should not miss this as this was my highlight moment from Portugal trip , those limestone cliff and the views of ocean were just outstanding.

Day trip to Lagos and beaches , 1:30 mins drive from Faro we reached our first stop Praia do Comilo , enjoy your day at the beach and then do a short walk towards other beach in the area it’s all connected from Praia do Camilo , walking trail is much better than yesterday at Benagil Cave . Views here as usual super gorgeous.

Next up Lagos city centre , we spend our afternoon shopping eating and exploring this cute town which attracts many tourists in season due to its charm and vibrant energy . Highly recommend you to stay here instead of Faro .

Welcome to Lisbon , 4 hours of bus ride and here we are in capital city of Portugal. Upon arrival we checked in airbnb ,took much needed rest and headed towards the city to explore Lisbon .

Headed straight to Baixa area and Saw Praca do comercio and spent hours strolling around , a bit busy but great energy in the area , so much happening so you will have something to entertain yourself.

This viewpoint was the prettiest one located in The most beautiful and oldest area of Lisbon , Alfama . Super accessible by bus/ tram .you can easily spend hours here so many restaurants, viewpoints and here you will see the terracotta rooftop houses 🏠

This is day trip guide from Lisbon . 🚂 Train run every hour from Lisbon ( Rossio train station). Takes 50 mins ride to reach Sintra train station / Uber ( 30 mins 17 euro one way ). ⭐️Book your tickets to castles online from official sites 18 euro and choose your time to enter the castle , be in que before 15-20 mins of your booked time to enter the castle . ⭐️There are many castle in Sintra , so plan your day accordingly . ⭐️ Uber straight away dropped us at Quinta de Regaleira ( must visit). Make sure to come according to the time you choose , gets super busy so come as soon as door opens , Incredibly beautiful palace like a labyrinth, straight out of a fairy tale .

Back to the Town square of Sintra to explore the town and lunch , very dreamy and peaceful small town in the hills , wish to spend some time here next time .

Took a tuk-tuk to Peña palace . 🌸From train station to Pena palace , Catch a bus 🚌 434 or better buy a day pass for this bus as you will be needing this to do up and down ( we did tuk - tuk ride to the castle 20 euro , 10 euro per pax 30 mins ride ). 🌸 walk down the hill is super easy while coming back or catch a tuk -tuk again to train station in 5 euro per passenger. 🌸Wait , wait , wait it’s not done yet once you reach to the top after your tuk tuk ride , enter the castle premises by showing your online ticket and again a small uphill walk for 15 mins and wait for your time slot and enter to the main castle and keep in mind that you will waiting a lot , to enter inside of the castle you will have to be in que for an hour .(but I would suggest you to explore the outside of the palace as it’s the main deal . 🌸Other Castle I would recommend- Quinta da Regaleira Moorish castle Sintra national palace 🌸I regret doing just a day trip to Sintra , it’s such a beautiful town that you need few days to spend here , it’s that pretty and has so much to do ….

Dear breakfast is quite popular in Lisbon and they do serve the best breakfast keep in mind there is always a que outside so you will have to wait between 15 - 30 mins .

We bought a metro pass for next 2 days and headed straight to Timeout market , place for food lovers , this place will not disappoint you at all . The concept is so brilliant, bringing together diverse mix of culinary styles under one roof .Worth a visit , energy at the market was incredible. Note - This place doesn’t accept cash at all .

This street with colourful umbrella is a short stretch of street with few restaurants / bars with outdoor seating . It’s nice for a photo but now I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there as it was walking distance from Timeout market we could simply not skip this .

Street to come here is very steep but quite popular you also have an option to come by Gloria eleven tram ,the steepest elevator Tram of Lisbon ,it was truly a nice experience . You can also come to this viewpoint from the Main Street or by Uber .

After exploring the city we went to this viewpoint as it was in a walking distance from our Airbnb , very beautiful come early to have a spot to sit it gets super busy .

This place served us the tastiest breakfast in Portugal,their sweet toasts are incredibly delicious. Afterwards we headed to Baixa area for some shopping and just walked around for hours .

Later this day we finally lined up for one of the most famous tram ride in Lisbon Tram 28 , please keep in mind its gets super busy and you will have to wait for hours to get your number . To avoid the crowd come early as soon as it opens . It starts from Martim moniz in Baixa and it goes all through all the historic sites and narrow lanes of Lisbon . You can buy tickets online or if you have Lisbon card for 72 hours you can use that here too or buy one as soon as you board the tram like we did .

From Our Tram 28 ride we got down once again in Chiado area and had some coffee and the famous dessert of Portugal- Pastel de nata and this place served us the best one .

Welcome to Porto , left early morning from Lisbon via Flixbus , we are here for 3 days . Checked into our airbnb made some breakfast and straight away walked towards chapel of souls (famous for its blue & white tile work ) which was in a walking distance from our airbnb , highly suggest you to book something right in city centre . Porto is pretty walkable so it’s always nice to stay right in centre .

Booked free walking tour by Guruwalk (so basically it’s not completely free , you will have to tip based on your experience ) it’s always nice to do the walking tour on day 1 it gets easier for the next days because by this you know some of the highlights of the city .

Our walking tour ended at Porto Cathredal from here we walked to Luis bridge , a bridge connecting two important cities Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Views from this bridge is stunning 😍 you have to see sunset from this place or just walk to the other end and now you have a stunning view of Douro river , sunset and a backdrop of Porto city .

Started pretty late this day had some delicious breakfast at Do Norte Cafe , honestly this place is quite famous and there is always a que but it was worth the wait .

Bolhao market has a rich history dating back to 19th century,market has been beautifully restored and houses fresh local food and goods . From delicious local food , fresh fruit to flowers you will find everything here , it’s always nice to come empty stomach here and leave with a happy belly .

Okay this place is a gem , we watched sunset once again from Luis bridge and climbed down through stairs to this riverfront promenade which you can see from bridge top , so many food joints , restaurants and different artist performing from singing to arc , we really enjoyed our time here .

Last day in Porto and in Portugal , we booked a Day trip to Douro river which included pick-up , drop , lunch , wine tasting at two incredibly beautiful places and lastly river cruise on Douro river . This day honestly was the highlight of my Portugal trip and I highly suggest you do this once in a lifetime experience. Two way to explore- Rent a car and drive around by yourself from Porto or if you have time in Porto stay here for 2 days and explore in your own pace . 2nd way is by day tours organised by different companies from Porto .
