The best of Croatia

Pula is part of Istria, Croatia and the starting point of this trip. From here you can explore Rovinj and Porec. Pula has a small center with nice streets and an old Roman theater. I suggest exploring Pula and sitting down on one of the great restaurants.

The arena of Pula is like a smaller version of the Colosseum in Rome. You can also visit the inside but from the outside you can already see a lot. It is definitely nice to walk around it.

In Croatia you will not find sandy beaches but there are beautiful coast lines. You can go for snorkeling, kayakking or even cliff jumping!

This is a great bar to eat Calamari and other fish dishes. The vibe is also really nice.

Rovinj is one of the most popular places in Croatia. For good reason, there are many colorful streets and it is very charming to walk trough.

I suggest visiting this church and going up for the beautiful views!

I suggest just stopping in Rovinj before you go to the Plitvice lakes. Rovinj is expensive to stay and you want a full day at the lakes. This is a nice hotel close to the National Park.

This must be on of the most beautiful nature places on earth! This National park is definitely a must visit. You can go for hikes that take you all through the park. The water colors and clearity are amazing. You will be exploring this park for at least half a day or more. There are several parking places close to the park or you can take the shuttle bus from the nearest towns.

After a full day of hiking it is nice to stay in a comfortable place.

Trogir is an old town that is close to Split. You can spent a couple hours exploring the cobble stone streets and emjoying a nice lunch.

Now arriving in Split! I really loved this city, it has great restaurants, beaches are nearby and just a nice atmosphere. I would recommend staying here for a couple of days if you have the time. From here you can also visit the Krka National Park or if you like adventure you could go ziplining.

Not your typical Croatian food but definitely a nice restaurant you should try. They also have a restaurant in Hvar. It can be crowded so a reservation is recommended.

A nice place in the middle of Split so you can get the most out of visiting this city.

This is a great place to have breakfast in the morning or for a nice poke bowl as lunch.

In the middle of the center is this palace and beltower. You can go up the tower and enjoy the nice views over Split. Underneath the palace you will find rooms where they sell souvenirs. A couple of Game of Thrones scenes were shot here.

You can reach this beach by foot or by taxi/uber/car. The water here is nice and clear.

An excellent place for taco's and other mexican food, the cocktails are also really good!

From Split you can drive or take the bus to Dubrovnik, you could also take the ferryboat. Dubrovnik is all the way in the south of Croatia but it is definitely worth the visit. I suggest visiting in the low season like spring or the end of summer. It can be very crowded but the city is really beautiful.

If you want to visit an other sort of museum you should visit the love stories museum. It's filled with special love stories of people of Dubrovnik and beyond.

A beach bar with a great view, you can also take a dip in the water here. The cocktails are good and I had the best Calamari here!

This place lies next the main street of Dubrovnik. The old center is within walking distance and car free. It is very modern en comfortable decorated.

A must do when visiting Dubrovnik, walking on the old city walls. I suggest starting early in the morning and bring water and sunscreen! It takes about 2.5 hours to walk all the way around (with photostops).

With the same ticket for the walls you can visit this old Fort. Again Game of thrones shots were filmed here (you could also take a guided tour if you are a fan). Anyway, great views over Dubrovnik and the walls.

A nice restaurant where they have creative dishes!

If you want to stay a bit further away from Dubrovnik then you could stay at this nice hotel close to the beach.

From Dubrovnik you can take the ferry to Hvar island. There are also other islands you could go to like Korcula and Brac. I definitely want to come back and visit more islands. I really like the vibe of Hvar and you will find the clearest blue water here! You will arrive at the Hvar Port and it is a great place to stay.

If you want to relax on a nice beach this is a really nice one. There is also a beach bar and a restaurant. The way to the beach is a bit steep but definitely worth it!

This bar in the middle of Hvar town is really nice for sharing meals and nice cocktails!

This hotel is about 15 minutes walking from Hvar town and I really loved it. The modern appertments, comfortabele beds and a nice pool.

The highlight of my stay on Hvar was this boat trip I did with Mario Rent. You can find the office in Hvar town. They offer several boat trips, I did the one to the blue cave. You make several stops, swim in the clearest water and the blue cave is magical!

I already mentioned this restaurant in Split but you can eat again here. They had one of the best hamburgers I had, also great curries and vegetarian options.

The best spot to watch the sunset is at the Spanish Fort just above Hvar town. It takes about a 15 minute walk with steps but the view is beautiful.

From Hvar you can take the ferry boat back to Split and from there the bus to Zadar. I loved the other cities more but Zadar is definitely nice to visit for a day and the airport is closeby.

One thing to go to in the evening in Zadar is the Sea Organ. The waves make some sort of music and there is platform with colorful lights.

These fine rooms are a great place to stay while exploring the city Zadar.

This is the last stop of the trip. Ofcourse you can always add more places and stay longer and just relaxing. Croatia is a great country with so much to see and do!
