Nice airport. Security moves quickly. Airport in general is clean and simple. There is a terrace and also a small cafe on main level.

Upon our arrival at Dubrovnik Luxury Residence we were welcomed by a very kind and hospitable receptionist who showed us the parking place and our apartment. A great surprise followed, we got an upgraded apartment! The apartment exceeded our expectations! It had a modern kitchen, spacious dining and sitting area, and the bedroom overlooking the fountain was warm and cosy. The entire apartment was impeccable!

I could’ve spent the whole day here if I could. The sights, oh my! I clicked about 200 pictures and not one of them can I leave behind. The bright red of the corrugated roofs, the calm of the blue-green waters, the looming centuries-old forts, the muted din of the regular lives from the city below…It was like walking inside a medieval kaleidoscope.

I am not the hugest fan but I thought it was worthwhile to do while in Dubrovnik. A couple of the sights: -The steps of the Walk of Atonement by Cersei -On the walk beside King’s Landing -The same walk of King’s Landing -King’s Landing

“Time stands still in Lokrum Island,” our GoT tour guide told us. “The Dubrovniks go there to rest.” The island is full of gravelly paths, tall trees, peacocks, and rabbits! The monastery in the island was the setting for Qarth and there is a Game of Thrones mini museum on the island where you can click pictures sitting on the Iron Throne. There’s a swimming cove (called the Dead Sea), but it can get crowded in summer. Food and drinks are expensive on the island, but you could carry your own food and have a picnic.

We couldn’t do the tour because of choppy waters, but kayaking looked like a great way to spend the evening around the walls, watching the sky turn orange as the sunset in the far distance. The rocky hills around made for a surreal company. You can either use tours or rent the kayaks to do it yourself.

Obviously you’re going to start here. Stradun is Dubrovnik’s main street. Paved with limestone, the street is lined with quaint shops and restaurants. There are mini streets which snake inwards with more treasures to shop or eat in. Plenty of apartments to rent and stay, right at the heart of the action.

It is a 16th-century palace. The name comes from the Latin spongia, the spot where rainwater collected. The palace has served a variety of public functions, including as a customs office and bonded warehouse, mint, armory, treasury, bank and school and is now home to the city archives, which hold documents dating back to the 12th.

Saint Blaise is the patron saint of the city of Dubrovnik and formerly the protector of the independent Republic of Ragusa. The church was built in 1715 and is one of the landmark places to visit in the city today.

A trip to Mount Srd using the cable car takes 10 minutes and 150 Kuna round trip (gulp!) but the views are to die for. Plus you can save by taking a trip up in the cable car and then walk down through the trail; the latter takes about 45 minutes.

Buza means ‘Hole in the Wall’. It’s a bar with a wonderful view. But that’s about all you’ll go for. Drinks are quite limited and expensive and service lacklustre. A tourist tick mark.

There is a ferry run by Jadrolinija. It cost 420 HRK (62 US Dollars / 56 Euro) for a return trip and you can book the tickets at its website.

The best time to visit Blue Cave is between 11 AM – 2 PM when the sun rays create a magnificent aquamarine light that bathes the inside of the cave and turns white objects into silver.

Here you can enjoy at some of the best island restaurants in Croatia. Places like Toto’s, known for its catch of the day seafood lunch.

The ferry trip from Stari Grad to Split is very enjoyable and has some fantastic scenery from the top deck.An absolutely delightful hotel. We were greeted so warmly at the front desk. The rooms are gorgeous, modern and so comfortable. This hotel is in the old part of time and close to all the shops, restaurants and waterfront.

The 1700 years old palace complex is spread over almost 30,000 square meters and is located at the heart of Split. A series of shops, cafes, restaurants, and apartments line the streets in and around the palace. You can also see a 3500 years old sphinx in the palace complex which was gifted to the emperor and brought from Egypt. End with a visit to the palace basement, also the location for Game of Thrones.

The Cathedral of Saint Domnius is the Catholic cathedral of Split. It was originally built as a mausoleum for Diocletian. The cathedral complex comprises of a church and a 60 m bell tower, the view from which is amazing if you can climb up the precarious trail of 200 stairs—they wobble a bit, oh, and you can see the bottom and how far you’ve climbed—infinitely worse when there are lots of excited people on it.

The weirdest museum ever. This taxidermy museum has around 500 stuffed frogs in various poses of daily (mostly European and medievalist) chores and pastimes. These frogs are doing ‘people things’ like having a picnic, studying in a school, playing in a band, and working in fields. Damn cool and a tad bit disconcerting too if you ask me. But definitely worth a checkout. Entry is 40 Kuna and takes less than 30 minutes to go through.

Fresh fish carefully and tenderly made. Not cheap but delicious. This was the second most expensive meal I’d in Croatia but totally worth it.

At first sight, it looks like an expensive place, but it’s not! The breakfast is really scrumptious and they serve large portions. Fife is also very close to where the walk up to Marjan Hills start, which is the next activity on the list.

Marjan Hills are called the lungs of the city, and rightly so, with its lush trees, birds and bees, and many hiking trails. It has several scenic viewpoints but it can get a bit hot in the summer months. There are park benches and tiny churches with water fountains on the way to give you respite. Carry snacks and water with you.

Its architecture is influenced by ancient Greeks, Romans and largely, Venetians. In fact, the town is often lovingly called, Little Venice Seeing Trogir at a leisurely pace takes about 3 hours.

The drive to Zagreb was very beautiful, its a complete four hours scenic drive. Checked-in to a good hotel in a wonderful location, close to the historic center of Zagreb, at the end of a street with many restaurants and bars.

The Zagreb Cathedral is Roman Catholic and the tallest building in Croatia. As with all structures in Europe, and especially in the Balkans, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times.

Tkalciceva is a beautiful street dotted with restaurants and cafes in the centre of Zagreb. It is right behind Ban Jelacic Square and a pedestrian area.
