4 days in Amsterdam

We had a 6.40am flight so we were up early to get to Heathrow airport for 4.30am!✈️ We got plane tickets for £2 return because of Avios points!! Bloody bargain! 💰💸

Once we had landed, we easily found the train station and paid about £5 each to get to Amsterdam centraal🚝 The trains were super easy to understand and ran on time 😊

We made it!!

We just walked the streets before making our way to our accommodation! We weren’t very impressed with the cleanliness but were here for a good time 🤪

We were too early to check in to our air BnB so we walked the streets. Dam square was beautiful, but it was very busy! There were lots of protests going around this area.

This was in the middle of Dam Square… beautiful!

Beurspassage is absolutely worth a visit! It was stunning and it was a very handy short cut🤪

Just around the corner is this beautiful shopping centre, we didn’t explore much as we were super hungry but it looked lovely!🛍️

FOOD, I ordered a tuna cheese toastie and my partner ordered a Hoisin rib toastie - both were so good! For both sandwiches it cost us £12.76, which wasn’t too bad! 🥪

Loads of Palestinian protests! 🇵🇸

We stayed in a very wonky air BnB but it was exactly what we needed for 5 people! Plenty of space, wonky floors and a lounge area!

We spent the evening burning off the cocktail calories and exploring the city! I must say it looks so much prettier at night with all the lights on! 🌉

We walked past this bridge so many times not knowing what it was, but oh my it was absolutely stunning, especially at night!! 💡🌉

This was definitely one of our highlights of the trip!! We didn’t book but they were able to slot us in when they had space! While we waited we drank many cocktails 🍹🤪

RAINY DAY! We were up early to make the most of the day and the streets were empty!

SO EXCITED! Our first stop of the day was at Anne Franks house, this was very intense and emotional but is a must! We were early for our slot so we had a lovely cocktail around the corner 🍹

We actually didn’t have time to go into this museum but it looked cool from the outside!

These chocolates were very expensive, the queue was long but moved quickly but it was so worth it! I brought the raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake chocolate bar and it was delicious! There is a place inside where you can create your own flavours but it was quite expensive! 🍫

This record store was so cool! They had records playing, soooo many records upstairs and downstairs, defo worth a visit if you like vinyl! 📹

You can see Damrak while waiting in the line for Tony’s chocoloney, it was very peaceful!

Instead of waiting in a longggg queue for Winkel 43 we found this place around the corner. It was cheap, delicious and really chilled vibes! We would recommend this place for lunch over Winkel 43 🤪

Just around the corner we found this Irish pub! The staff were so friendly, great pub food and strong alcoholic drinks… what more could you want?!🍷🥘

So at lunch on this day we tried to get in here for the ‘best apple pie’. The queue was way too big so we ended up in a really cool cafe around the corner and came back to Winkel 43 at night. When we got in it was a cute vibe but we wouldn’t say that the apple pie was amazing, it was average. We were glad to have not stayed in the massive queue earlier!! 🍎🥧🙃

We got the train to Zaandam! Super easy to catch again and was only about €5 each. 🚝

Wowowowow! We went to a shop here just to grab a sausage roll and snacky bits that we ate walking through this unique town! It was strange tho, it was one long road of quirky green shops then it stopped. 💚 Very cool to see though!

So, I thought Zaanse Schans was close to Zandaam, I WAS WRONG! We decided to walk along the river until it was too late. This walk took us about an hour to walk at quite a fast pace too! 🚶🏽‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️

SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE! As we walked in there was a shop called smells like chocolate and they were not lying! There was a lot to see here, windmills, museums, shops, food stalls! Defo add to your Netherlands itinerary!!🍫💭

For our brunch we decided to share a cheese and bacon crepe, sounds strange but it tasted soooo good!! 10/10

We went into this quirky museum about clogs. We watched some people making clogs, saw hundreds of gorgeous clogs and even tried some on 🤪 Perfect fit tbh😂

We could not face the walk back to Zandaam so we got an uber for €12 to the train station 😂 work smart not hard!

So went here for a flip book but you need to pay for the museum to even get a flip book! It was defo worth it tho, the flip book machine was so easy to use and the rest of the museum was very interactive and fun! 🎭📖

This was our last day so we wanted to take it easy and just wander aimlessly. We ended up in Vondel park, it was beautiful but I feel like we went in the wrong season! 🍃🚶🏼‍♀️

WOW! There was a long queue but it moved so quickly! It was really well organised with bouncers and different sections but the chips lived up to the hype and weren’t too expensive! 🍟 we also bought a croque

After food we booked a canal cruise with lovers cruises! You must add a canal cruise to your Amsterdam itinerary! We gathered lots of knowledge and enjoyed the views from a comfy canal🚤

The staff here were actually quite rude and took a long time to complete peoples orders! When it finally arrived it was nice but wouldn’t go crazy for it again! 🧇

Back to the airport! This is one of the coolest clocks I have seen 😂😂 Amsterdam airport was a nightmare getting in (so busy) but on the way home it was pretty empty! ✈️

Love a late night flight!! ✈️

This is our initial itinerary, it was very packed but money was the main obstacle for completing it all! 😫 We felt like we had made good use of our time tho and when we win the lottery, we’ll be back to do the rest! ❤️
