The Airport is pretty small in Arrivals, but quite safe. The crew is quite friendly and co-operative. The use of plastic in all forms are restricted, hence planning is required if you purchase any items inside the airport.

Giraffe Manor is only a 30-minute drive from the airport, and Uber rides are quite an affordable way to get around. Giraffe Manor is famous around the world for its herd of endangered Rothschild giraffes that often peek their heads through the hotel windows in search of a snack.

In the morning, we woke up to giraffes impatiently waiting for us to come to our balcony and treat them to some snacks. We woke before the sun and were giddy with excitement to see two giraffe faces peeking through our balcony.

We continued to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage to meet baby elephants that have mostly lost their mothers to poaching, death, or another tragedy.

Once we arrived at Nairobi National Park, we started our 4-hour game drive in the same open-roofed van, perfect for getting a 360-degree view of the scenery. Keep your eyes peeled in search of lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, jackal, and many other animals. We easily spotted the monkeys near the gate - have your camera ready to catch these playful creatures. Standing, you'll be able to spot animals from afar in their natural habitats.

Fantastic ambiance, service and food. Never fails to impress. A guaranteed good meal, love the decor, heating frogs, and general energy at the Talisman. With delicious vegan and vegetarian options it's a favorite for the health nuts.

We went through car, the driving distance between Nairobi and Naivasha is 88.14 km.

Camp Carnelley’s offers a wide range of different accommodation including traditional camping, twin rooms, bandas and dormitories. They are all located right at the edge of the lake, so you really feel as though you are out in the wild

It’s an adventurous 4-5 hour hike into the crater of Mt. Longonot, with stunning views and the chance to spot buffalo, antelopes and maybe even leopards if you get really lucky.

We went on a walking safari and spot wildlife like giraffes, buffalo, Colombus monkeys, wildebeest and more.

It’s time to leave the city behind and head into the bush. Around 100 miles (167km) from Nairobi, Lake Nakuru National Park is the best place in Kenya to see flamingos. Thousands of flamingos flock here to feed on the abundant blue-green algae cultivated by their own droppings.u

We stayed at this lodge that was inside the national park, with unobstructed views of the lake from our balcony. The ecolodge is in need of a revamp, but rooms are still well maintained. The pool was also an excellent spot to hang out.

Located 182 miles (293km) from Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara is around a 6-hour drive away.

You should reach in time for an evening game drive. The Maasai Mara is world famous for the annual migration of animals, where thousands of wildebeests storm across the Mara River.

The visit was definitely a humbling and fascinating experience for all of us, including our kid.

You’ll need to drive back to Nairobi early in the morning to catch a domestic flight to Mombasa

Upon arrival in Mombasa, we had to catch the Likoni Ferry to get to Diani Beach. It’s free. A ferry ride is only 5 minutes, but the queue to get on the ferry can result in more than an hour wait. It’s chaotic but quite the experience!

One of the best hotels in Diani Beach, this all-inclusive resort is right on the beach and features a 3-tiered pool. Thatch-roofed villas are designed around landscaped gardens. It also has a few restaurants and evening entertainment.

It’s worth taking time off from the beach to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Fort Jesus, just a few minutes’ drives from Diani beach.

We did a dhow tour to Wasini Island and Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park and had a blast! The day tour brought us on a historical walk around Wasini Island and we got to visit the Shimoni Slave Caves. Also we snorkeled in the marine park and swam next to turtles.

Head back to Mombasa for your flight to Lamu Island. The historical island is located in the northern part of the country and traveling by road would take too long.

Overlooking the beach and surrounded by forest, this exclusive, secluded villa offers upscale lodging decorated in Swahili-style and contemporary art. The spacious suites are located in traditional dwellings, called Nyumbas. They offer sea views and feature an outside living area and a veranda. Each Nyumba has a private butler.

Listen to the calls of prayer everyday as you sip a cup of Arabic coffee. Dhow and donkey remain the only forms of transport around Lamu. Hiring a dhow for a leisurely cruise around the archipelago is a must-do.

. It’s a tangle of donkey-wide alleys, winding among tall stone townhouses, small thatched huts, few mosques and ruins and a spacious square ringed with some market stalls.

A single flight from Lamu to Nairobi costs around $90 and takes 1h45m.

Sadly, our trip has come to an end. We took our flight back to home. it was a wonderful adventurous trip.
