We went at 10am and it was very busy! Suggest going earlier for the heat too! In summer in Brazil, expect it to be busy regardless. Absolutely worth it though

Take a night bus from iguazu to Floriánoplis - stay at this great little hostel in a good location

Visit some of the nearby beaches - get an Uber to them Floripa has 42 beaches - so many to chose from! This one was my fave :)

Fly from Floripa to Salvador. Stay in this hostel & get free caipirinhas for an hour every day!

Wander the streets of Salvador and take in the street art & the amazing music playing all around you

Visit the market for all your souvenirs and take the elevator down (the first urban one in the world!)

More beautiful buildings - MJ filmed video for “they don’t care about us here”, with olodum who rehearse every Tuesday and allow locals and tourists in to watch

Beautiful sunset at farol da barra lighthouse, arrive around 5-6pm and take in live music and some beers

Beautiful beach 45 mins from Salvador Have a relaxing day here and finish at one of the beach clubs (loros) for sunset

Fly from Salvador to Rio early. We stayed in this favela (called estraya da babilonia) it’s on air bnb and booking

Walking tour of centro area to learn about the history of Rio & Brazil

Get up early! Between 6-8am and visit the selaron steps. If you go later you’ll have to share with many others and it’s nice to have time to read all the tiles and take in the steps!

Visit sugar loaf for sunset - go around 5.30/6 and take in all the different stages of the sun setting

I mean look at it! Stay until 7.15pm ish and wait for crowds to die down to get best view of the city with the lights on

Visit the jardim botanica - beautiful space and feels so far from the crazy city!

Then relax at a rooftop hotel pool on Copacabana. We stayed at Miramar and can highly recommend!

Day trip to ihla grande

If you have the time - visit and stay overnight instead because it’s beautiful and you don’t get full opportunity to see via a day tour (lots of travel!).

Visit Christ the redeemer early - first thing at 8am. Don’t visit on a cloudy day as you wont get much of a view

Then do a tour of Santa Teresa on the last tram line left!

Finally sunset tour on a boat (get your guide) then watch sunset at Ipanema

Relax on the beach in between days & soak up the rays on Copacabana. Spend your last day at beach & buying souvenirs at local night markets
