Madrid with friends

We woke up early in the morning to take a flight at sunrise to Madrid from London

When we landed we got ourselves train passes and took a subway to our Airbnb in plaza mayor. I didn’t really like the area but the Airbnb was good.

After we reached and checked in to our Airbnb, we relaxed for a bit before wandering around the area where we would be living for the next few days. This church was right next to our Airbnb and was beautiful.

We made our way to Madrid’s best churros place but honestly the food here was overhyped and we didn’t enjoy it as much as we thought we would

Post churros, we walked to make our way to the city centre to do some shopping and more exploring.

Gran via is madrid largest shopping area where there you can find shops like H&M, Zara and a huge 5 story Primark m

My friends and I headed to carrefour express near our house that had all the groceries we wanted. So we bought some stuff and cooked dinner for the night. The store was well priced but if you’re looking for something cheaper, there’s a lidl shop 10 mins walk away that one of my friends ended up going to.

That night it was our friends birthday so we headed to Kapital club where we paid an entry of 20 euros. It was a lot of fun and the music was mainly EDM (both English and Spanish)! But they have like 6 floors so if you don’t like the music in one floor you can head to the next for some different tunes. Loved it there!

In the morning we wandered by foot to see this amazing area, it was such a nice day and there were so many nice bars and cafes.

We walked quite a while on some hilly road before we reached the Templo de Debod, an egyptian temple rebuilt in Madrid.

We then headed back down into the city centre to visit the most famous opening market in Madrid. But we were disappointed. It was too crowded and it mostly had fresh produce and meat, not much cooked food

In the evening we went to a bar/tapas restaurant to try some Spanish food and it was amazing! We’re lucky we got a seat as I’ve heard it’s usually quite busy

In the morning we headed to some historic sites by foot

And got some amazing photos near this monumental gate!

But our favourite part of the day was at retiro park. It was so lively and warm. We started out by getting some gelato and laying on the grass for a while.

Then we headed to see the crystal palace, it was prettier in real life! I recommend!

We decided to end the day on a boat trip in the retiro park. If there’s one thing you are going to do in Madrid, it should be this. And tickets are super cheap for the boat btw!!

Today was a rainy day so we just spent the day at the museum which was nice, a good time pass and great art!

When it stopped raining a bit, we went to another market, this one was much better and very different to the other one - great for souvenirs.

My friend from Spain recommended this place to me and it was by far the best meal we had on the trip! We got a table downstairs and it was great service and very cosy vibes plus decently priced. We booked in advance.

We just grabbed some food and drinks at the plaza mayor and soaked in some sunshine before getting a train to the airport

This was our second time using the train in Madrid using our pass. It was a short and direct journey to the airport, overall a good stay but very tiring. Next time I visit Madrid I might use the bus more instead of walking everywhere.
