A weekend in Jordan

Pre book your stansted parking! I love the blue car park because it’s a 10 min walk from the terminal and we keep our keys! I book online when I know our flight times and the. You just drive straight in, straight out when you’re done no hassle 🙌

We had nice layover on the way there. We travelled STN- POZ and POZ-AMM. It was fun and we found a hotel just opposite the airport to stay in was perfect! We only had 4 hours in the hotel before jetting off but it was worth it for some comfortable sleep and the hotel was within walking distance of the airport? We just WALKED out of the airport?!?!? Totally new experience 🤣

This place was so good find a table, sit down and they’ll check how much food you want for the table. Between 2 of us, for so much food we had to leave some and 1 drink, it was less than £5! Super fast too, essential falafel fast food!

We walked from Hashim to the Citadel, without a map. I would recommend finding your route first as Jordan is super hilly! There’s such good views up here and so much history I highly recommend visiting. You can see the citadel from various points across the city too.

This is located on the citadel grounds. Pay for your ticket or use your JordanPass and you’ll be able to walk around. There’s no boundaries so get your photo between the temple doors. We saw someone sat on the ruins reading and all I could think was how much of a good day that would be!! Move slowly through the citadel, you can spend hours admiring the views, finding new spots and the mosque but the temple was by far my favourite.

There’s an easy downhill walk from the citadel to the amphitheatre. We asked the ticket guy at the citadel and he offered us some good directions and we had a couple of locals offer us help along the way so we didn’t get lost! Super helpful. The amphitheatre costs a few JD to enter and you can walk around all day. The sunset over the city was stunning and seeing the local children run around and play was very joyful!

We stopped by the wild Jordan for dinner and it was so good. The views of the citadel were great and we had some really good food! Service was lovely and as always the locals were amazing!!

You HAVE to stop here! This was recommended to us from our Airbnb host who we bumped into on our hunt for food and he was adamant we’d love it. He was not wrong. The restaurant was so beautiful and very quiet. Their menu was filled with local foods and not quite what we expected for breakfast but nonetheless, delicious! We also had to get a chai which also hit the spot. Definitely worth a visit!

We hadn’t been into a mosque across all our travels so far. There had always been one reason or another but this one we timed right, they have a appropriate outfits for tourists and it was fairly quiet when we visited which was nice for us! It cost a few JD to get in and I was dressed in this super unflattering dress but the building was stunning.

If you want some real history, The Jordan Museum is the place! It’s right behind the bus stop and we got the buildings mixed up so make sure you find the right entrance. Again it wasn’t too busy so we could move slowly and absorb some of the history and culture of Jordan!

This place is just along rainbow street, near our accomodation and it was the perfect ending to our hike from the Jordan Museum to Rainbow Street and before we started flying back home! Food was good, the vibe was awesome, they have a little art thing around the building. Perfect end to our speedy run around Jordan weekend!

Back to the airport and caught ourselves a Jordanian McDonald’s. Classic.
