Lucerne and Zurich

Arrive at Zurich Airport. Take a direct train from Zurich Airport to Lucerne. The direct trains run every hour. Tickets can be purchased online, via an app like Trainline, or at a kiosk at the airport. A private transfer can also be booked at the link below.

Arrive at the Lucerne Train Station. The hotel, Art Deco Montana, is only a ten minute walk so we walked it to save some money. A cab can also be taken. Cabs are outside the train station. If walking, be sure to walk down Haldenstrasse road and take the funicular up to the hotel, do not walk up the hill! Pinned location of the funicular: 47.0556459, 8.3199106. I have also uploaded a photo below to show you what the entrance will look like.

Check in time is 3PM, but maybe you will be lucky and your room will be ready. If not, they can hold your bags until then. This hotel offers amazing views (be sure to book a lake view room). It is located outside of old town, but it is a quick 10 minute walk away. If you wish to be within old town stay at Hotel des Balances. We have stayed there as well. Go enjoy lunch at Rathaus Brauerei! It is our favorite spot in Lucerne! We have eaten here countless times! Seating is first come first serve. It can get crowded! Once you see open seats grab them!

Stop by the supermarket to grab some drinks and snacks for your room! It’s also a great spot to grab an on the go breakfast or lunch!

You are probably very tired from your journey so have an early dinner at the hotel restaurant and get some much needed rest! The restaurant is lovely but the food can be a little fancy for my liking, Altho the food I have here was delicious! I would personally head back to the lunch spot for dinner because I am obsessed with it!

Breakfast at the hotel is an added expense. They have a buffet. It is pretty good.

Get there early! This spot gets crowded with tourists!

Walk across the wooden bridges in Lucerne and admire the artwork inside.

Explore old town. Take a guided walking tour to ensure that you see all the best spots! Get lost in the streets by yourself as well!

You’re in Switzerland, enjoy some Swiss chocolates!

Have lunch! Their version of Mac and cheese is delicious!

Take the Gutsch funicular to see a fabulous view of Lucerne!

Italian food for dinner! Delicious pasta! Sit outside for fabulous views!

Book a tour to Mount Titlis. Linked below. It is an incredible experience! Unfortunately it was pretty cloudy when we visited, but we still enjoyed it tremendously!

Dinner time! Pardon the photo! Lol! Not sure why I didn’t take any photos but one in this spot! I got the spaghetti with garlic and oil. It was the best I have ever had!!!!!

Have a quick breakfast at the hotel or on the go and then take a day trip from Lucerne to Interlaken and Grindelwald!

Check out of Art Deco Montana and walk to the ferry dock for your next hotel stay. Ferry times can be found on the website linked below. There is a departure board at the ferry dock to look at as well. The Bugenstock includes a ton of non-alcoholic beverages, so there is no need to cart any beverages with you!! They also include some fresh fruit and chocolates. If you are not interested in staying at this resort, please fast forward to day 7 and take a train to Zurich instead.

Take the boat and then a funicular to this amazing luxury resort! It has a high price point but I promise it will be one of the best hotels you ever stay at! There are three hotels to chose from. We stayed at the Burgenstock. There is also the Palace Hotel and the Waldhotel for a slightly lower price point.

Once checked in, waste no time and head straight for the spa! Stop at the spa’s front desk to sign in. They will provide you with a bracelet to enter the locker room and spa area. Phones are allowed in the spa, but only during certain hours so be sure to check the times.

Have dinner at the Oak Grill. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance, as they most likely will not accept walk ins.

Enjoy a delicious included breakfast at Spices.

Check to see if the Hammetschwand Lift is open. It has been closed when we have visited, but it would be an amazing experience! It is the highest outdoor elevator in Europe and boasts amazing views! While you are out, explore all the grounds! There are so many picturesque spots that I cannot really explain how to get to. Ask the concierge for the best spots like the wooden staircase, the chapel (that Audrey Hepburn was married in) etc.

Access to the Waldhotel’s Spa is included in your stay at the Burgenstock so go check that out. It is no where near as amazing as the Alpine Spa, but worth checking out for a short while. You can walk or ask for a ride in the lobby.

Have lunch in the lobby.

Spend the rest of the day in the spa until it is time to get ready for dinner.

Walk down the connected hallway to the Palace Hotel where Ritzcoffier is located. Give yourself some extra time to take in all the history outlined throughout the hallway. Enjoy a fabulous dinner. Make sure to make a reservation well in advance. Our favorite was the veal.

Enjoy your final breakfast at this magnificent resort.

Spend the remainder of the morning taking advantage of the spa before it’s time to check out.

Check out at noon and take the funicular and boat back to Lucerne. Take a direct train from Lucerne to Zurich HB.

Arrive at Zurich HB and walk to the hotel. It is a 4 minute walk depending on what track your train comes in on.

You arrive just in time for check in. Drop your bags in your room and go explore!

Check out if your hotel and take a quick ten minute train ride to the airport. If you are traveling back to the US, be warned that once you are through security and in the duty free area, there is another checkpoint that you will have to go through and an air train.
