Lucerne, a small Swiss town known for its very well-preserved medieval architecture, sits amid snow-capped mountains on Lake Lucerne. Its colorful old town is bordered to the north by the Museggmauer, 870 m long dating from the 14th century. Lucerne is the social and cultural center of central Switzerland . The Lucerne Carnival and the Lucerne Festival are events whose influence is not confined to the region. It has several covered wooden bridges, including the Kapellbrücke , which has become inseparable from the image of the city. The Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge), built in 1333, connects the Aldstadt to the right bank of the Reuss river.

The Schwanenplatz is a bit in Lucerne the copy of the Rue du Rhône in Geneva. A place dedicated to mass tourism where in general tourist coaches (often Asian) rush to buy luxury watches that are sold in this place. I’m really in the center of the (old) town of Lucerne, facing the lake, with a majestic view and easy access to visit and stroll along the quays.

In the seaside resort of Lucerne, the city of lights shows itself from its most beautiful side. The pool is visited by numerous loyal guests, some of whom have been swimming here for many years. It is located on Lucerne's representative Nationalquai, directly in front of the historic hotel buildings. Built in 1885 in the style of historicism, the Kastenbad underwent several conversions and was at times even threatened with demolition. In the new millennium, the decision was finally made to completely renovate the bathroom. The new building, inaugurated in 2010, succumbs to the charm of a wonderful Belle Epoque pool: made entirely of wood, there are simple changing rooms around the two courtyards with seawater swimming pools. In the direction of the lake, the bathers swim in the open water. The unobstructed view from the roof terrace to the Pilatus, across to the KKL and the Lucerne train station is impressive. A simple but delicious cuisine with seasonal salads, a piece of meat, homemade summer cuisine and warm panini, as well as ice cream, coffee, mineral water, ice-cold beer and Caribbean drinks round off the bathing pleasure. In addition, there are regular cultural events and yoga lessons in the open air.

The Kapellbrücke (literally, Chapel Bridge) is a covered wooden footbridge spanning the river Reuss diagonally in the city of Lucerne in central Switzerland. Named after the nearby St. Peter's Chapel, the bridge is unique in containing a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with a larger part of the centuries-old bridge in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe,as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge. It serves as the city's symbol and as one of Switzerland's main tourist attractions.

The lion monument is located in the center of Lucerne and, in the allegory of a dying lion, commemorates the Swiss Guards who fell on August 10, 1792 during the storming of the Tuileries in Paris . The inauguration of the monument, which was carved out of a sandstone rock and is about ten by six meters in size, took place on the anniversary of 1821. It is one of the most famous monuments in Switzerland and is visited by around 1.4 million tourists every year. [1] In 2006 it was placed under Swiss monument protection. [2]

Step back in time and discover what Lucerne looked like when the whole country was still covered by glaciers, or when subtropical palm-fringed beaches characterized the region's landscape. The Jardin des Glaciers features glacial potholes dating back to the last ice age, 20,000 years ago, as well as fossils of shells and palm fronds from the maritime region with a subtropical climate 20 million years ago. The adventure of the Jardin des Glaciers now leads inside the dark world of the mountain. Lucerne sandstone tells its story and reveals its secrets hidden in the Felsenwelt. From formation at the primordial sea, folding into mountain ranges to shaping during ice ages, the journey through millions of years leads to an underground lake at the center of time and through a futuristic Gartenhof at the Sommerau. Back in the light, visitors can enjoy views of Lucerne and the Alps.
