Valencia on a Budget

Welcome to Valencia, and welcome to the Purple Nest Hostel! This is one of my favourite hostels i have stayed at so far on my travels because of the amazing group of people i met. This hostel has a very social vibe and an amazing pub crawl you can join to make friends!

Its time to explore the beautiful City of Valencia. In my opinion, Valencia is the ‘prettiest’ city i’ve ever seen. I fell in love with it’s stunning pastel buildings and Spanish architecture, it is also a very clean and well kept city. Take a walk from the hostel into the gorgeous old town where you will find Placa de L’Ajuntament. This is the second largest square in the city centre and has a beautiful view of the cathedral. Here you can sit and enjoy a gelato, drink or tapas before dinner.

Head to Lizzaran for dinner. This spot is located in the largest square in Valencia and is where all of the action is. You can grab a beer for around €3 and a meal for around €10!

I spent my second day in Valencia exploring the big beautiful park that stretches from the top of the city and down to the beach. Here you can spend the day and take a picnic, hire a bike or wander around the many beautiful bridges and ponds scattered throughout the park.

After a big day relaxing in nature, head to Plaça del Tossal which is a very small but bustling square in the old town. Here you can have a meal at one of the restaurants surrounding the square and afterwards have a drink on the terrace at Cafe Bolseria. This bar turns into a club at night if you feel like having a dance.

Beach day today! Catch the train down to Platja de Llevant where you can spend the day sun bathing and relaxing.

Marina Beach Club is the only beach club in Valencia but wow it’s beautiful! For €40 you can hire a day bed (€10 is redeemable on food + drinks) and with this you have access to their infinity pool overlooking the beach.

This is a cannot miss experience while staying in Valencia! I was lucky enough to have a friend with a car that was able to drive me here but you are also able to catch public transport most of the way into the near by town and then walk for 30 mins to get to the caves. The experience goes for around 45 minutes and is a boat ride that takes you through the most impressive underground canals. There is also a surprise light + music show included for only €16.

On my 5th day i spent the morning wandering through the stores along Carrer de Colon. Here you can also grab a bite to eat for lunch

The rooftop on top of the Blanq Carmen Hotel has the best views in Valencia! They have a wide range of wines + cocktails and some snacks incase you get hungry.

If you’re feeling up to it, i highly recommend the hostel’s pub crawl! They run every night at 10:50pm and you can purchase a ticket for €10 from the hostel reception desk. We went to 3 bars and 1 club where we got a free shot at every place included in the price. It was such a great way to meet people and to socialise with people you had already met during the week.

This was one of my favourite things i did in Valencia! If you love Bridgerton and anything royal, this museum is for you! It is €3 to get into and you can explore 3 floors of beauty.
