Start your week in Barcelona by flying directly into Barcelona airport! It is a big international so you can often get really affordable flights! It’s also super easy to access the city centre from the airport- we found the best choice was jumping on the buses that run directly from outside Arrivals and costs €10 per person.

Head to the city and check into your accommodation! I recommend staying at Hotel Barcin which is located right in the Gothic Quarter and is really comfortable but affordable!

Spend the rest of the day wandering around getting used to your surroundings, and then take a short walk to the marina for dinner. I recommend eating at Terrazza Ravello which has outdoor seating right by the water front! Spot some of the massive ships docked in the marina.

Start your day by exploring the famous Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. You can easily spend a few hours wandering the beautiful streets and admiring the architecture. Stop for a leisurely coffee in one of the many independent cafes.

Next, head to Cathedral de Barcelona which is absolutely stunning- it’s also well worth heading inside. You can also book tours to learn about the history.

Close to Cathedral de Barcelona is also the ‘World begins with every kiss’ display. This was unveiled in 2014 in honour of Catalonia Day and was only meant to be a temporary exhibition but it was so impactful that the local authorities left it up.

For dinner, try some authentic Spanish tapas at Brugarol! This cosy little spot is the perfect place to unwind for an evening.

Begin today by heading to La Rambla! This is a tree lined pedestrian street which stretches for 1.2km. It is one of the most popular places in the city and is filled with stands selling everything you could want, from souvenirs to ice cream. I would recommend walking the entire length of it, as it is constantly changing and the atmosphere is amazing.

Next, head to La Boqueria which is a market just off La Rambla. This is the perfect place to stop for lunch, and make sure you also get some fresh fruit juice! You can pick your flavour and they make it up in front of you which is a really unique experience.

After lunch, walk over to the most famous spot in Barcelona- La Sagrada Familia! You can either admire the amazing architecture from outside or book a tour inside. Photo top tip: to get the full Sagrada Familia into your shot, head into the park at the front of the cathedral!

For dinner, head to A Tu Bola which is a gorgeous little restaurant in the Ravel District! Make sure you try their speciality ‘bolas’ which are meat, fish or veggie balls served with pita bread!

Today, take a break from pounding the streets of the city and instead head to the beach! Surprisingly, Barcelona has some really beautiful beaches that are well worth exploring! My favourite was the Bogatel Beach which is also easily accessible by bus. Other top choices are Sant Sebastià, Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella beach!

For dinner, head back into the city centre and visit Cal Pep, which is one of the most popular places for tapas in Barcelona! The dishes use lots of fresh ingredients, and you can even sign up for a cooking class so you can recreate your own dishes at home!

Spend today admiring the talent that is Gaudí! His work is all over Barcelona, and is famous for a very good reason. Start by exploring Park Güell. This is such an amazing thing to do in Barcelona, and you will definitely want to set aside a few hours to make sure you do it properly! It’s best to book your tickets in advance online as the queue to buy in person was very long (and means your entry is not guaranteed). Top tip- although there are some small food stands outside the park, there is no food sold actually within the park, so it’s best to bring some snacks or a picnic to enjoy.

For your next stop, head to Casa Batlló. This Gaudí creation is world famous for its amazing architecture and is considered one of his most amazing creations. You can took tickets for a tour, just make sure you get them in advance!

Next stop is Casa Milà! It’s popularly known as ‘the Stone quarry’ due to its rough stone appearance. Again, make sure you book tours in advance so you don’t miss out!

Start this morning with a visit to one of the most popular museums in Barcelona- the Picasso museum! The site is set across 7 palaces (where else!) and is well worth a few hours of your time.

Your have spent a lot of this tour delving into the history of Barcelona so this afternoon, spend some time in modern Barcelona! The city has a plethora of shops and stalls to explore so spend your last afternoon doing some shopping and picking up souvenirs for friends back home.

Grab a quick bite to eat before your journey home? Bo de B is a very popular sandwich shop in Barcelona that often has queues out the door! As soon as you taste it for yourself, you will see exactly why it is worth the wait. Barcelona is such a gorgeous city and even 6 days there doesn’t feel like enough, there is still so much more to explore! I hope you liked this guide!
