Budapest

We arrived at the airport around 03:30 AM, as it was already very late, we opted to take a Taxi Bolt to leave us at the Hotel, which cost us 9750 HUF (25€), however it pays much more to go by bus as each ticket costs 1500 HUF ( 4€).

We stayed at the Andrassy Thai Hotel, we chose it based on the location (it was on the street next to the Basilica) and the price, our experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

We started by coming to the Basilica. You can go up to the tower to see the view over the city. It costs 1500 HUF (3,90€).

We did not visit its interior. But if it is in your plans, we leave the value here: 18,75€

This is the biggest and most important square in Budapest. In the center of the square is the millennium monument, built when the country celebrated its 1000th anniversary, in honor of the kings, nobles and leaders of the 7 tribes who fought for the freedom and independence of the country. 🕊️ It is one of the free tourist attractions not to be missed.

Vajdahunyad Castle is located above Heroes' Square. The tickets cost 3000 HUF (7,90€) Museum + Towers.

This is one of the best known spas in Budapest. The day ticket costs 9 400 HUF (25€) during the week and 10 900 HUF (29€) on weekends and public holidays.

Here you can see a view over the city of Budapest. Each ticket has a value of 3000HUF (8€).

In this museum you can find exhibits related to the fascist and communist regimes in Hungary, and a memorial to the victims. The ticket costs 4000 HUF (10,5€), but if you are under 25 and reside in the EEA you only pay 2000HUF (5,25€).

The shoes by the Danube river are a memorial to the Jews who lost their lives during the Hol*caust. Before being sh*t, Jews were obliged to remove their shoes, as these were considered luxury items, and would later be sold.

The entrance costs 5000HUF (13€) this amount may vary if you are a student or non-EEA resident.

Spend the afternoon on Margaret Island.

If you are staying on the Pest side, the best way to get to Buda Castle district is by bus. Each ticket costs 350 HUF (0.90€), and you can buy them at metro stations, or at the vending machines next to the main bus stops.

This has always been one of our goals to accomplish when we come to Budapest. We had already heard a lot of people talking about the sunrise in this city, and the truth is that it really is a magical moment. 🪄 On this day we woke up at 05:30h, and when we left the hotel it was -2º, but it was worth being able to experience that moment.

The ticket price to visit the inside of the church is 2500 HUF (6.65€) and to visit the tower is 2900 HUF (8.52€)

It is a journey that is very worthwhile, the view that you have over the city is worth it.

Go to the other side of the river via the Széchenyi Chain Bridge (When we went it was closed for renovations, but if you go to Budapest after it opens, don't miss the opportunity to walk across the most famous bridge in the city).

This is one of the best places to take pictures overlooking the parliament on the other side of the river. When you go to Budapest, don't forget to search for "Photo spot"

Spend the day in the Gellért Thermal Bath, you can take lunch or have lunch in the restaurant.

This is another of the most famous bridges in Budapest, it is located in front of the Gellert baths.

Go to the Great Market and taste some of the country's typical foods.

Visit the Dohany Street Synagogue, it costs 9000HUF (23€) per person.

One of the main attractions of Budapest are the ruins bars. Entry is free and you can visit at any time of the day.
