🇪🇸 Tras 16 horas de vuelo desde Madrid, haciendo escala en Shanghai, llegué por fin a la isla de Phuket. Phuket es una isla que estaba en la ruta comercial entre el Sudeste Asiático, la India y Europa, siendo un enclave importante para comerciantes portugueses y chinos. Old Phuket es el núcleo urbano de la isla. Posee los edificios y calles más antiguos, dignos de recorrer y admirar. La playa y el pueblo de Patong son el punto neurálgico de la isla. Las playas más visitadas por los turistas son las de Patong y Karon Beach. Por otro lado, las más tranquilas son las de Kata Yao, Kata Noi, Kamala Beach o Baan Thao. Y por último las ideales para perderse y escapar del bullicio de la isla: Surin Beach y Banana Rock Beach. 🇬🇧 After a 16-hour flight from Madrid, with a stopover in Shanghai, I finally arrived on the island of Phuket. Phuket is an island that was on the trade route between Southeast Asia, India and Europe, being an important enclave for Portuguese and Chinese traders. Old Phuket is the urban core of the island. It has the oldest buildings and streets, worth visiting and admiring. The beach and the town of Patong are the nerve center of the island. The most visited beaches by tourists are those of Patong and Karon Beach. On the other hand, the quietest are Kata Yao, Kata Noi, Kamala Beach or Baan Thao. And finally, the ideal places to get lost and escape from the hustle and bustle of the island: Surin Beach and Banana Rock Beach.

🇪🇸 El primer lugar que visité fue Wat Chalong, el templo más importante de la isla de Phuket y muy venerado por la gente local. Se encuentra al sureste de la isla, en el distrito de Mueang, a las afueras del pueblo. Es un complejo religioso en el que destacan varios templos y fue construido para venerar a dos grandes monjes budistas, Luang Pho Chaem y Luang Pho Chuang que lucharon en 1876 contra la rebelión china ayudando con todos sus conocimientos sobre hierbas medicinales. 🇬🇧 The first place I visited was Wat Chalong, the most important temple on the island of Phuket and highly revered by the local people. It is located in the southeast of the island, in the Mueang district, on the outskirts of the town. It is a religious complex in which several temples stand out and was built to venerate two great Buddhist monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, who fought in 1876 against the Chinese rebellion, helping with all their knowledge of medicinal herbs.

🇪🇸 La Gran Pagoda destaca por albergar astillas de los huesos de Buda y está decorada con murales que representan su vida. Mide unos 60 metros, y para mí es sin duda el edificio más bonito e interesante del complejo. Al tratarse de un templo sagrado budista, las normas de VESTIMENTA y COMPORTAMIENTO son las mismas que encontrarás en todos los lugares sagrados de Tailandia, debes dejar tu calzado en la puerta y entrar completamente descalzo, además no debes mostrar tus hombros, pecho, abdomen o piernas. 🇬🇧 The Great Pagoda is notable for housing splinters of the Buddha's bones and is decorated with murals depicting his life. It measures about 60 meters, and for me it is without a doubt the most beautiful and interesting building in the complex. As it is a sacred Buddhist temple, the DRESS and BEHAVIOR rules are the same that you will find in all the sacred places in Thailand, you must leave your shoes at the door and enter completely barefoot, you must also not show your shoulders, chest, abdomen or legs.

🇪🇸 Al día siguiente, aproveché para recorrer la isla y conocerla un poco más. También descubrí su gastronomía, y el que es hoy uno de mis platos favoritos, el Pad Thai! Las distancias son grandes, el mejor modo de DESPLAZARSE es alquilar una moto o un coche. La mejor zona para encontrar un ALOJAMIENTO tranquilo es la de Kata. 🇬🇧 The next day, I took the opportunity to tour the island and get to know it a little more. I also discovered its gastronomy, and what is today one of my favorite dishes, the Pad Thai! The distances are great, the best way to GET AROUND is to rent a motorcycle or a car. De 25 m de altura y color blanco, el Big Buddha es el símbolo de la isla. Se encuentra entre las zonas de Chalong y Kata. Es un lugar para encontrarse a uno mismo y relajarse. Al salir del aeropuerto, fui a la parada de autobús y esperé para coger el bus (muy rápido y muy barato) que me llevaría cerca de mi alojamiento, en el centro de la ciudad. La espera fue un poco larga y lo cierto es que desagradable. Era mi primera vez fuera de Europa y fue impactante el caos de Bangkok. 🇬🇧 My flight arrived that same night to Bangkok. 🇪🇸 Construido en en el s XVII, el Wat Pho es un complejo religioso donde destaca su Buda Reclinado de 46 metros de largo y cerca de 15 metros de altura. Se caracteriza también por su color dorado y sus inscripciones sagradas en las plantas de sus pies. El horario es todos los días de 8.00 a 18.30 y el precio de la entrada por persona de es 200 baths (5,43€). Con la entrada te dan un botellín de agua que se agradece bastante por el calor. 🇬🇧 Built in the 17th century, Wat Pho is a religious complex where its Reclining Buddha stands out, 46 meters long and about 15 meters high. 🇪🇸 El Templo del Buda Reclinado alberga un total de 91 chedis de cerámica y azulejo, de los cuales los 4 de mayor tamaño fueron dedicados a los 4 reyes de la dinastía Chakri. Las estatuas que se encuentran en frente del edificio del Buda Reclinado representan las técnicas del masaje tailandés tradicional. Y es que el templo es famoso por ser la primera universidad de Tailandia y precisamente por su centro de masaje tradicional tailandés. When I visited Thailand it had been a short time since the death of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, so the number of tributes to his person stood out on those dates, and of course, in the Grand Palace. Its architecture is inspired by the ancient capital of Ayutthaya and has a rectangular architecture with a clear influence of traditional feng shui. Destaca en primer lugar el Panteón Real que abre sus puertas 1 día al año, el 6 de abril, y que en su interior expone las estatuas de tamaño natural de los 7 primeros reyes de la dinastía Chakri, de Rama I a Rama VII. 🇬🇧 The complex houses several buildings. 🇪🇸 Llegué por la mañana a Chiang Mai, y me dirigí a mi albergue, Ban Elephant Home. Chiang Mai es mi ciudad favorita de Tailandia sin duda! Su casco histórico es digno de recorrer y sobre todo de disfrutar ya que sus mercados y puestos de COMIDA son geniales y muy recomendables y alberga muchísimos templos budistas. 🇬🇧 Chiang Mai is my favorite city in Thailand without a doubt! Its historic center is worth visiting and especially enjoying, since its markets and FOOD stalls are great and highly recommended and it houses many Buddhist temples.

🇪🇸 Mi templo preferido de Chiang Mai, el Templo de Plata, que cuenta con una imagen de Ganesha. Se construyó en 1500 en un barrio de plateros. Por desgracia, no está permitida la entrada a las mujeres en el templo pero se puede apreciar desde fuera una decoración interior maravillosa con relieves de las historias de Buda y los principios del budismo. En el exterior están representados símbolos nacionales, de la familia real, los signos del zodiaco así como representaciones de varios países. La ENTRADA es gratuita y su HORARIO es de domingo a viernes de 9 a 21, y los sábados de 9 a 22 horas. *Los martes, jueves y sábados por la noche podrás acercarte a los monjes para hacerles preguntas sobre el budismo o simplemente meditar junto a ellos (previa donación).* 🇬🇧 My favorite temple in Chiang Mai, the Silver Temple, which has an image of Ganesha. Es el templo más grande de Chiang Mai y el más prestigioso, ya que alberga en su templo principal, una imagen muy venerada de Buda donada por el rey de Sri Lanka en el S.XIII. La gran estupa dorada fue construida para proteger los restos de un antiguo rey. También se pueden apreciar en el complejo un monasterio, una escuela, diferentes santuarios más pequeños, chedis y edificios auxiliares. La ENTRADA al recinto es gratuita y para ver el templo principal hay que pagar 40 baths (1,08€). 🇬🇧 It was founded in the year 1345. 🇪🇸 El resto del día, seguí recorriendo la ciudad, visité todos los templos que pude y comí y cené sin problema en puestos de la calle mientras recorría sus mercadillos y veía sus espectáculos. 🇬🇧 The rest of the day, I continued touring the city, I visited all the temples I could and I ate and dined without any problem in street stalls while I went through its markets and saw its shows.

🇪🇸 Es el templo más famoso de Chiang Mai y se encuentra a 18 km de la ciudad en las laderas del Monte Suthep. Fue construido a finales del S. XIV. Se dice que fue el lugar en el que se acostó a dar su último aliento el elefante que portaba una reliquia de Buda, lo que indicaba que se trataba del lugar perfecto para levantar el templo. Para llegar al templo hay que subir una escalera de 309 escalones, una de las zonas más pintorescas del templo, flanqueada por dos enormes nagas (las más largas de todo Tailandia). Hay opción de subir en funicular no obstante, por 20 baths. 🇬🇧 It is the most famous temple in Chiang Mai and is located 18 km from the city on the slopes of Mount Suthep. It was built at the end of the 14th century. It is said that it was the place where the elephant that carried a relic of Buddha lay down to give its last breath, which indicated that it was the perfect place to build the temple. La ENTRADA cuesta 30 bahts (0,80€). *Para mí, la mejor opción para llegar es alquilar una MOTO por unos 150-200 bahts al día (a los que habría que sumar gasolina y puede que una fianza). El alquiler de un COCHE ronda los 1000 baths al día aproximadamente. 🇪🇸 Tras visitar el templo, cogí la moto para recorrer sus alrededores y acabé adentrándome en la selva, una de las mejores experiencias del viaje. Llegué a un pequeño pueblo, recorrí sus puestos y conocí a la gente del lugar, donde pude ver varias mujeres girafa, con anillos para alargar su cuello! 🇬🇧 After visiting the temple, I took the motorcycle to explore its surroundings and ended up entering the jungle, one of the best experiences of the trip. I arrived at a small town, I went through their stalls and met the locals, where I could see several giraffe women, with rings to lengthen their necks!

🇪🇸 Por la noche volví a cenar en el mercado y aproveché para hacer compras para llevar un recuerdo a amigos y familiares. 🇬🇧 In the evening I went back to dinner at the market and took the opportunity to go shopping to bring a souvenir to friends and family.

🇪🇸 Lo primero que pensé al contemplar la opción de hacer una excursión para ver elefantes, fue que no quería ir a un lugar en el que no fueran respetados y fueran maltratados; así que una vez allí, me recomendaron en mi alojamiento este lugar de RESCATE a unos 60 km de Chiang Mai. Me recogieron en el lugar donde me alojaba y junto a una familia que también había optado por este centro, hicimos una excursión por la selva hasta llegar al lugar, visitando incluso un poblado y haciendo una parada para darnos un baño en una cascada en nuestra ruta. 🇬🇧 The first thing I thought when contemplating the option of taking an excursion to see elephants, was that I did not want to go to a place where they were not respected and were mistreated; so once there, this RESCUE place was recommended to me at my accommodation about 60 km from Chiang Mai. They picked me up at the place where I was staying and together with a family that had also opted for this center, we made an excursion through the jungle until we reached the place, even visiting a town and stopping to take a bath in a waterfall on our route. .

🇪🇸 En cuanto a la experiencia con los elefantes, fue sencillamente maravilloso el poder estar tan cerca de unos animales así. Pude darme un baño con ellos y darles de comer algo de fruta. Después comimos pad thai, mi plato favorito, envuelto en una hoja de plátano y tuve la oportunidad incluso de hacer rafting en una balsa de caña de bambú! No recuerdo exactamente el nombre del centro, prometo investigar! En cuanto al PRECIO, fueron unos 25€. 🇬🇧 As for the experience with the elephants, it was simply wonderful to be able to be so close to such animals. I was able to take a bath with them and feed them some fruit. Afterwards we ate pad thai, my favorite dish, wrapped in a banana leaf and I even had the opportunity to go rafting on a bamboo cane raft! I don't remember exactly the name of the center, I promise to investigate! As for the PRICE, it was about €25.

🇪🇸 Las islas Phi Phi son un archipiélago espectacular situado en el suroeste, en la provincia de Krabi. Es recomendable ir en los meses de noviembre a abril que es la estación seca (las lluvias son de mayo a octubre). Subir al mirador de Koh Phi Phi fue una de las experiencias más bonitas en la isla ya que las vistas son impresionantes. En Phi Phi Don murieron más de 3000 personas en el tsunami de 2004, y todavía se pueden apreciar al pasear por la isla los desperfectos de la catástrofe. Fue a este punto donde muchos habitantes subieron para sobrevivir al tsunami. *Yo fui a las Islas Phi Phi desde Phuket. Hay que coger necesariamente FERRY, ya que no disponen de aeropuerto. El precio de cada trayecto es de unos 400 baths (10.40 €) y dura unas dos horas.* 🇬🇧 The Phi Phi Islands are a spectacular archipelago located in the southwest, in the province of Krabi. 🇪🇸 Para conocer las islas es posible contratar un tour de un día entero en Long Boat desde Phi Phi Don y visitar varias islas: - MONKEY BAY y sus anfitriones, cientos de monos salvajes que han aprendido a escalar las rocas e incluso a nadar! Es ideal para disfrutar del sol, el baño y un poco de tranquilidad. *Una opción más barata, es alquilar un KAYAK para visitar MONKEY BAY POR LIBRE. 🇪🇸 Las islas tienen infinidad de playas por visitar. Son todo un paraíso. Por la noche hay un gran ambiente, son un lugar muy turístico y hay mucha fiesta.
