Colombo International Airport, also known as Bandaranaike International Airport, is a well-equipped medium-sized airport offering essential services. At the entrance, you'll find ATMs and SIM card shops for convenience. Taxis and private drivers are readily available for transport. The bus station to Negombo is just a 15-minute walk away. A good and simple guest house available for around €10 per night. It's easily accessible from the airport by bus. For dinner, you'll find various options, from budget-friendly to more upscale. Plus, there's a samosa shop right in front of the guest house! 🍛

Pidurangala Rock is a must-visit near Sigiriya. From Negombo, you can take a taxi or bus for about a 3.5-hour trip. It’s an excellent spot to view Lion Rock at sunrise or sunset. Entry costs 1000 LKR per person. The hike to the top is relatively easy, and the panoramic view is breathtaking. Enjoy the view! 🌅

Catch a bus to Dambulla from the road; the lively music on board makes for a fun ride! 🕺 Near the bus station, you'll find a local market brimming with fresh vegetables and fruits. The friendly locals welcome visitors with big smiles.

The Dambulla Cave Temple entrance fee is 2000 LKR per person. Dress modestly—cover your legs and shoulders; you can rent a sarong at the site for 100 LKR if needed. The temple complex features stunning ancient Buddha statues and murals set in a series of caves, offering both cultural and historical insights. Be prepared for a bit of a climb to reach the temple, but the view and experience are well worth it.

Breakfast is amazing 🤩

We booked our tour to Minneriya National Park through the homestay. The tour costs around €50 per person and includes a jeep pickup from the hotel. The 5-hour tour provides opportunities to observe wildlife such as elephants, crocodiles, and various bird species. It's particularly famous for the annual elephant gathering during the dry season. Be sure to bring binoculars and a camera for the best experience.

Take a bus from Sigiriya to Dambulla, and then transfer to another bus heading to Kandy. The total cost is around €4 per person. Kandy's picturesque lake is a highlight, but the city can be quite chaotic. If you're seeking tranquility, consider exploring the quieter areas around the lake or visiting nearby temples. 😤

The train journey from Kandy to Ella is renowned for its stunning landscapes. The trip costs around €2 per person in second class, where you might need to sit on the floor due to limited seating. You can prebook your tickets one month before on 12Go.Asia. Although the journey takes about 7 hours, it’s considered one of the most beautiful train rides in the world, offering breathtaking views of lush tea plantations, rolling hills, and scenic valleys. Be sure to bring snacks and water, and enjoy the picturesque scenery along the way. 🌎

Very cool place!

Ella Rock Viewpoint offers a delightful hike through tea plantations. The initial part of the trail runs along the train tracks, providing stunning views. At the top, you’ll need to pay around €3 per person to access the viewpoint. The panoramic scenery is well worth the hike. 🧍‍♀️

The Nine Arches Bridge, located near Ella, is a remarkable architectural feat and a popular photo spot. Arrive around 4 pm to avoid the crowds and enjoy the stunning views in a more peaceful setting. The bridge is set against a backdrop of lush greenery and is best seen as trains pass over it, adding to the picturesque scene. 🌁

Get a bus from Ella to Mirissa. Around 5 hours journey. This hotel is nice and comfortable with ac and although is in the main road it is really quiet.

Just take a beer and chill after the trip! 🌅

Mirissa Beach, located on Sri Lanka's southern coast, is a popular destination known for its relaxed vibe and scenic beauty. Parrot Rock is a small, rocky outcrop offering stunning panoramic views of the coastline and the Indian Ocean. It’s a popular spot for climbing and taking photos, with a relatively easy hike to the top. The rock provides excellent views of the surrounding area and is a great place for a scenic break. Take a swimsuit, the first part is in the water! 👙

Coconut Tree Hill in Mirissa is a picturesque spot known for its stunning views and iconic coconut palms. It's a popular location for photos and relaxing, offering a beautiful vantage point over the ocean and surrounding coastline. The area is perfect for watching the sunset or simply enjoying the natural beauty of Sri Lanka 🌴

After one hour scooter riding you will be in Galle. Take a walk through the city and go to the fort. Galle, a historic city on Sri Lanka's southwestern coast, is renowned for its well-preserved Dutch colonial architecture and charming fortifications. The Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features cobblestone streets, colonial buildings, and ramparts offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The city also boasts vibrant markets, museums, and a lively cultural scene. It's an ideal destination for exploring history, enjoying local cuisine, and experiencing Sri Lankan heritage.🎐

If you like surf you have to take a lesson here. There are a lot of surf schools and the prices are super affordable. 4000 per person for 1h30 of lesson plus 0h30 alone! 🏄🏾

One of the best experiences of your life! For around €15 per person you can spend 3 hours around the river looking for crocodiles! Fruits and coconut are included. 🐊

Time to go back. Take the express bus from Matara to Colombo. It cost €3,5 per person and it takes around 3 hours. 🚌
