Arriving at the airport in Amman around 4pm. Then a transfer to the hotel in Amman. Tip: don’t change money in the airport, exchange rates are better downtown.

This hotel had a very comfortable room with an ensuite bathroom including a big shower. We had half board but the food wasn’t very impressive. There’s a small pool outside, which is nice when you are staying in the city center.

After a short drive we arrived in Salt, this city used to be the capital of Jordan. There are still some beautiful houses and an interesting museum to learn more about the culture of Jordan. We tasted some really nice streetfood there. A stroll on the local market was a nice experience too.

We had a local lunch prepared for us at the Woman’s cooperative association. Here local women prepare meals, organise cooking classes and have creative workshops like paper making and pottery. We had an excellent meal here prepared traditionally.

This old Roman villa is worth a visit to get an idea of how the Romans built their palaces.

Jerash is a place you definitely need to visit when going to Jordan. The old Roman city is one of the best preserved in the world. The Oval Plaza, the Northern entrance gate, the two old theaters (North and South) are stunning! Also the temples of Zeus and Artemis are worth visiting. Jerash gives you a good idea of how an old Roman city looked like.

Especially the freshly made hummus was delicious here. The restaurant has a nice terrace overlooking the city of Jerash.

This old theatre had completely been carved into the mountain. It can host around 6000 spectators. It’s still used now for events.

This restaurant is visited by local people as well so the food is very good. We had fresh meat from the grill there. Very nice experience.

Madaba is a very nice village on the way to the Dead Sea and Petra. In the visitor center local guides explain more about the historical facts that have been taken place in this region of Jordan.

It’s also a charming village with very nice streets to walk through. Try the pomegranate juice they are selling on the street, it’s delicious!

Roomtour in our hotel near Petra. Nice rooms and excellent food. I especially enjoyed the swimming pool here and the outdoor jacuzzi. Also loved the view of our balcony.

By entering the site of Petra you see a lot of people trying to make you take a horse or donkey instead of walking to the Treasury. As we were there first of November it wasn’t too hot anymore so it was better to walk.

Walking through Al Shiq is a great experience. The walls of rock are very impressive. You will meet dogs everywhere here. Like these adorable little puppies. I couldn’t resist bringing some food.

And then suddenly you see the Treasury appearing. What a massive piece of art! It’s very impressive to see especially when the sun is shining upon it. There are a lot people there trying to get you on a camel to take a picture. We did meet James Bond here too, can you see him? (Tip 007)
Excellent
The view on the main theater from above is very impressive too. No wonder they call Petra the Rose city. All rocks are colored pink here.

In the morning we stopped at Little Petra. Apparently you can climb some steps here and take a Jeep up to the monastery from here as well. After a short walk you arrive at the monastery where you only have to walk the 800 steps down!
Good
And then it was time to go and check out the Wadi Rum desert. But not leaving without a last look on the valley of Petra.

We had a great stay at Crowne Plaza there. Big resort but right at the Dead Sea. With an elevator you get down to the beach. It was also one of the places where you could buy cocktails with alcohol 😜
Excellent
Going down with the elevator to the beach and enjoy the floating experience in the Dead Sea! So healthy too. Don’t forget to use the mud on your skin and let it dry. It’s better to not stay longer into the water than about then minutes.
