Visit the Secret Gardens, the origins of the complex date back to the Saadian Dynasty, more than four hundred years ago! Spend 1-1.5 hrs to see the Gardens. There’s also a nice Cafe on the premises. Entry fee: 100 Moroccan Durham Timings: - February and October: 9.30 am - 6.30 pm. - From March to September: 9.30 am - 7.30 pm. - From November to January: 9.30 am - 6.00 pm. Open every day Last entry: 30 minutes before closing.

Early morning start where driver picked us up in a Toyota Land Cruiser, as we headed out to Mezouga Desert Safari. We had limited time in Morocco so we opted for a 2 Merzouga tour, which meant it was an eight hour drive! This was our first stop on our trip to Merzouga. We had quick breakfast while admiring nature!

Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate, Morocco, is one of the world's largest film studios, covering over 20 hectares. Established in 1983, it has hosted major productions like "Gladiator," "The Mummy," and "Game of Thrones." The studio features diverse sets, including deserts and ancient cities, and offers guided tours for visitors. You’ll need about 1-1.5 hrs to visit this place. Entry fees: 80 MAD

While in Morocco, must try some tagine!

Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate, is a historic fortress known for its intricate mud-brick architecture and maze-like design. We made a quick photo stop, as we didn’t have much time (we had to make sure we reach Merzouga in time to catch the sunset)

Finally, at these big, high dunes! We spent the next 1-2 hours clicking lots of photos/videos, feeling the sand under our feet & watching the sunset. One can take a camel ride to their camp, however we opted to reach out in the car. (Camel rides can be really bumpy! 🙈)

checked into Oasis Luxury Camp Mezouga — where we had booked a dedicated luxury tent with an attached bathroom and AC. The Camp stay included half board (dinner & breakfast). Dinner included traditional Moroccan cuisine, vegetarian as well as meat. (If you let them know in advance they’ll arrange just vegetarian dinner for you) Post dinner; hung out near the bonfire for some local music.

Breakfast at the campsite. And left for Marrakech back at 8:15 AM. Stopped at Arfoud for quick shopping of yummy dates. And our next stop was at Ait Bin Haddou for lunch at a local corner, but super breezy restaurant.

The Roman-era African city of Zucchabar in "Gladiator," the Egyptian town in "The Mummy," and the city of Yunkai in "Game of Thrones" were all filmed in Ait Ben Haddou Ait BenHaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Morocco, is renowned for its traditional mud-brick architecture and stunning landscapes. PS: when it gets too sunny, remember to ask your guide or a local shop to tie a Turban for you, if you’re wearing a scarf or you can rent one.

Headed into Marrakech and checked into Bo Riad and Spa (aka Zwen Zwen — its old name).

Madrasa Ben Youssef is a historic Islamic college dating back to the 14th century, showcasing exquisite Moroccan architecture with intricate tilework and cedar wood carvings. Explored its courtyard, ornate prayer halls, and student quarters adorned with Arabic calligraphy. Entry fee: 60 MAD (Moroccan Dirhams) per person for adults

Palais Badi, is a 16th-century palace ruins known for its grand scale and intricate craftsmanship, featuring expansive courtyards and remnants of past glory. Entry fee: 60 MAD (Moroccan Dirhams) per person.

Visit Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakech for its unparalleled luxury, exquisite Moroccan architecture, and personalized service. Guests can enjoy private riads, a world-class spa, gourmet dining, and lush gardens, offering a unique and opulent experience in the heart of the city.

A trendy spot offering stunning views of the city, especially the Koutoubia Mosque. Known for its chic ambiance, it’s a good place to watch the sunset or for dinner. PS: Do reserve a table in advance as the restaurant can get quite busy!

A day to explore out of Marrakech - day tour to Essaouira (2.5 hrs drive from Marrakech) First stop was at the Women’s Argon Oil factory and shop. Back in the bus and off to Essaouira!

Walked around the City Walls, Citadel, Medina, Sqala du Port d'Essaouira. Sauntered around the Fishermen’s Port and the Beach. Then back in the bus to return to Marrakech

Salut Maroc in Essaouira features a rooftop restaurant known for its colorful Moroccan decor and beautiful sea views. The restaurant offers a variety of local dishes, making it a great spot to enjoy traditional cuisine while overlooking the ocean

Time to head back home! We took a petit taxi & reached the airport. Note: the immigration at Marrakech airport can get quite crazy with long queues. Please reach the airport atleast 3-3.5 hrs prior to (international) flight time.
