We flew from Chicago to Bogota. Once at the airport we took a taxi to our hotel. We unpacked, rested a bit and then went out to enjoy some local food around the neighborhood!

The housing had a very nice view on the city and the mountain. There’s a food court right at the entrance of the residence and a convenient store as well.

We chose to do a walking tour of the city of Bogota on our second day. The meeting point was a hostel where we met up with the group and the tour guide.

The first stop was the Montserrate. The stop was about 90 minutes. We took the cable car to the top, took some pictures and visited the little market there as well.

The second stop was the gold museum. We spent about an hour visiting the museum and we had the chance to have explanations about the different crafts from our tour guide.

We spent about two hours walking around this beautiful and colorful neighborhood with the group. With comments and information regarding the area from our guide.

After a traditional Colombian lunch, we headed to the Plaza de Bolívar where we got to learn more about the history behind these buildings and this plaza.

Next, we headed to the Church Nuestra señora de l candelaria. We visited this beautiful church for a little while on our own and then met up with the rest of the group and the guide to get a bit of the history as well.

The last stop of the day was the Cafe Nuestra Henrencia. This cafe is draped with beautiful mural art and offers a selection of very good coffee, chocolate and even coca leaf drinks.

The day starts at 8am. We met up with the tour guide and hopped on the bus to start our day. The tour included: - Roundtrip transportation - Entrance fees for the Guatavita Lagoon and the Salt Cathedral - Bilingual tour guide

The first stop is the city of Guatavita. You get a bit of time in this lovely town to walk around and take pictures of the architecture before heading to the lagoon. On the way there, do not forget to take a photo of the upside down house !

We had lunch at at traditional Colombian restaurant that served a selection of traditional Colombian dish. They also had a live band playing.

We had a two hour stop at the Salt Cathedral. The visit was autonomous with an audio guide. The trail to follow was very clear and easy to go around this very impressive beautiful cathedral. The cathedral was our last stop before heading back to the city.
